Title: Going to Mexico
Post by: tito on November 29, 2009, 01:25:03 PM
Hi All,

I'm going on a trip to my house in Mexico - specifically Puerto Vallarta for Christmas vacation. I haven't traveled that far since I started PD a few months ago. Have only taken a car trip to Maine with the machine. I decided not to use the machine because it is that much more luggage to carry, and the electricity in our place is a bit iffy (blew up a TV last year). So, I'll be doing manual bags. I made a weekend dry run then had an adequacy test at the PD clinic.

I'm a little nervous because I'm worried I'll forget something, and because of the set up of our condo. You can't fully close off any of the rooms - it's the old-fashioned Mexican architecture with holes by the ceilings to promote air flow. I can shut off fans, close the bathroom door, but do you think that will be enough?

I've been told by my nephrologist that the majority of people in Mexico do PD (and that's one reason I chose it), but I can't find any resources about PD in Mexico. Baxter is delivering the supplies right to our place.

I am hoping all goes well. I need this vacation - it's been a terrible year!

I did manual when I went to Samoa for a week.  Absolutely no problems.  I was doing bags outside all the time!  You'll be fine I think.  enjoy!
