Any of you who have known me for the past couple of years know that I have always had a very high PTH. I did have surgery 3 years ago to have my parathyroids removed but go figure I have 5 not just 4 and the 5th one was a mystery. After doing a little research on my own and not liking what they were telling me needed to be done (which was to open up my breast bone and go on a treasure hunt) I approached my Dr. He said it couldn't be done. I had read that in the US thoracic surgeons we getting involved in helping remove these p-thyroids. He was very reluctant to send me on to one and said I was probably waisting his time. But I got an appointment. The thoracic surgical team was excited about my ideas and had a little gathering to talk about it. The end result was yes! lets do it. The idea was to go through my rib cage and push the 5th one up to my reopened scar. Sounded great to me. Sorry this is a long story, I apologize. In Dec 08 I got hurt at work and broke a couple ribs. While attending physiotherapy Liz was also using acupuncture. I asked her one day if she knew anything about pth and explained my situation. She took the time to read up on it and included the extra point during therapy. Since that time that I was finished acupuncture, my pth has dropped every month and is now normal!!!! Unheard of...YES! Nothing is to say it will remain but I am painfree and loving it!!

Acupuncture is amazing! I did it once for shingles and it cured them.
