Title: I'll be moving to Canada pretty soon
Post by: julian230 on November 19, 2009, 05:54:27 PM
How is my dialysis going to be covered if I currently live in Texas , and my two insurances are Aetna and Medicare?
How would dialysis be covered in Canada?

I believe dialysis is funded by the government in Canada - not sure how it works for an immigrant.  Monrein - you must know?

Dialysis is funded through our taxes.  It isn't easy to immigrate to Canada.

So I presume if they are letting you emmigrate there, then you won't have to worry about the cost.  But then I'd also assume there must be quite a number of people who would try to emmigrate for that reason - and they won't just let anyone in, especially if they're sick.

That's correct Hanify.  People who are accepted as immigrants have landed immigrant status (I think that's a 3 year thing) before being able to take out citizenship with all it's rights AND all it's responsibilities.   If people are "sponsored", by a family member for example, the sponsor would be on the hook for support if the person became a financial "burden".
