Hi Everyone! Sorry, I haven't been around much, but I have great news! Rob had a successful kidney transplant yesterday! He had some breathing issues after the transplant and had to be put on a Bi-Pap machine. He did so well that he was off of it last night (he was supposed to be off this morning) with just an oxygen mask and today he didn't even need that! He's making that beautiful LIQUID GOLD like you wouldn't believe! He's been sitting up in a chair and has walked around today. Overall he is feeling so much better than yesterday, woohoo! His labs taken last night show his creatinine at 6, is that ok? Going in it was at 12. I'll see what it is tomorrow. Due to some extra weight, he had to have a stint put in to help remove any excess fluid (I forget what the procedure is called). Technically, he is in ICU on the transplant floor, due to the Bi Pap machine, but he is doing just great. He's on steriods for 5 days and then will follow a steroid free regime due to his diabetes. His numbers are totally off the hook right now because of it and he hates it!
George, his donor, is doing AMAZING! He even walked outside today!!! He's not on any pain meds today and is just doing great. The doctors are amazed at how well he is healing. He leaves the hospital tomorrow. This man is seriously one of the most unselfish people I have ever met. We found him through matchingdonors.com and it's just been a twist of fate. He lives in NY, but his hometown is where we live now. He comes back here a lot and his parents are still here. Not only that but, his 10 year old cousin is a friend of my son's, has been in the same class for 2 years now and Rob was his Little League All Star Coach. We NEVER knew they were related until September! So, it's Fate!
We are just thrilled to death with how everything turned out. I know he isn't out of the woods yet, but he is feeling so much better and has lost the "dialysis sick look".
Thanks to everyone for all of the prayers and well wishes. I have been keeping up to date on my Facebook page and I know a bunch of members follow along there.
I will keep everyone updated as we go along. We are soooo happy!!!!

Rob is doing just great! He got sprung from ICU yesterday and off all IV's except for one nasty suppression drug that kills his veins, he hates that one! Creatinine today was 2! Woohoo! Tomorrow it should be lower hopefully. Rob is getting very antsy and wants out of the hospital. He also can't wait to get the catheter out, poor guy! We are hoping for a discharge of Sunday, yeah!
Here's a pic of Rob and George his donor. The other is a pic of YELLOW GOLD! Rob was very happy to hold it up and show everyone!
