Title: Full Fledged Member
Post by: Bub on November 16, 2009, 01:33:19 PM
I noticed from my profile that I am nowofficially a "Full Fledged Member".  Hey???? Is "Full Fledged" an acronym for chunky?  Its like when I was a kid, I had to shop in the Husky section.  "Husky" was an acronym for chunky.

Hey Bub, I note that I've moved from a newbie to a jr. member! We can have a double celebration in Las Vegas!

I like "solidly built".  And as for Vegas, I would give it a shot but it may be more than I can handle.  I play bingo two nights a week and that is as exciting as my life gets.  I know, I am pathetic!

Being "solidly built" does have some advantages.  I was reading somewhere the other day that we of that body type tend to have a little easier time in hemo dialysis.  We tend to be able to endure the rigors of hemo a little easier than you skinny minnies.  But I am working on weight loss.  I am down 55 lbs since my kidneys failed last November.  I guess I am at some plateau right now, but even losing just 55 lbs has really helped me in my battle to control my blood sugar. I have taken off 8 and 1/2 kilo's of fluid a couple of times. That's almost 19 pints of water in 4 and 1/2 hours.

What's the most you guys have taken off in a single session?

But I am happy whether I am solidly built or not.  I have other things to worry about now.  A year ago today I was in the hospital fiighting for my life.  It was a close call, but I am still here! I try to look at every day as a gift.  Its hard to upset me about much of anything. Hopefully I will have many more years to enjoy this life.  But if I died this afternoon, I would still have to thank God for this year that He has given me.

I have been saying that I am on "borrowed time". But I really dont like that phrase.  I am searching for a better phrase than that.  Maybe someone has a suggestion.

Borrowed Time may be the correct expression.  Maybe it is all your God's time and he or she just loans it out to people.

Point is, I always look for positive posts.  Thanks for posting this one.  (Although I still can't figure out why the number of posts is so important.)

Bub, That's a very impressive weight loss. Does 'bonus time' sound any better?

Bub,  great job with the weight.   :2thumbsup;   You are a great example to others; working hard on fluids and weight. Plus, you have a wonderful attitude and it shows in your picture.

I like the idea of "bonus time".  I'll take all the bonus time I can get   :2thumbsup;
