If you are medically qualified for a transplant, and you have an incompatible living donor or a poorly matched living donor, the National Kidney Registry (NKR) may be able to help you.
The National Kidney Registry works with transplant centers to increase the quality, speed and number of living donor transplants. The NKR allows transplant centers to register donors and recipients directly in to their database and participate in multi-center paired exchanges. Participation delivers the following benefits:
• Facilitates more living donor transplants by overcoming donor incompatibility.
• Provides better outcomes for patients by improving the compatibility of donor/recipient matches.
• Reduces the wait time for a transplants.
• Saves/ Improves the lives of patients.
The National Kidney Registry is a nonprofit organization registered under the laws of the State of New York. The National Kidney Registry is based out of Long Island, New York and supported by counselors, volunteers and partners around the United States. I am interested in going this route if my wife is not a match. She is willing. However, I would only do this if the surgeries were done simultaneously.

It is being done actively in Canada, and the surgeries are done simultaneously.
As a result the clinic has been incredibly busy making people quite happy.
