I have a '65 Mustang. My daughter thinks it's just an old car. I think it's a classic. It has no air, no power steering, no radio, but it is so much fun to drive.
Anyone else have a classic?
-
That is neat. What color is it?
I love those old mustangs.
A friend and her husband has a red 65 mustang. They just keep it in the garage.
I don't have any, but wish I still had my favorite car I ever
owned, a 69 Chevy Malibu, was sort of tannish gold with a vinyl top.
Was first brand new car I ever bought. Always wish I'd kept it.

It's called prairie bronze, but it sounds like the same color as your Malibu. When I was a kid we had a 66 Oldsmobile. That's the car I wish my parents had kept.

My 2000 Firebird will be a classic in a few years. I love my car. It is red with racing stripes. It was tricked out as a pace car for the California Speedway. It is convertible black top. I look cool driving it.
However it has a Gremlin in it. The radio sometimes goes nuts, the alarm system cries for me occassionally when I set it, and the left hand window will not go up and down for me anymore.
Cars! Gotta love them!
-
I love Mustangs. I had a '68 Mustang once. If you ever get the chance to go to "Hot August Nights" in Reno you need to go. The streets are lined with classic cars. They have a parade of them every night; it is so cool. Lots of old Mustangs there.
-
I drive a 77 Caprice, I love my boat of a car. If I could I would own a classic Charger (General Lee all the way) or a Challenger. If any of you have seen the new Challenger it is gonna be one sweet ride, and it has that classic look and feel to it unlike the new Charger. If you haven't seen it go to www.dodge.com (http://www.dodge.com) and check it out, I'm drolling over it.

CARS I love them!! My current project car is my 1991 Corvette convertable! I just had a ZZ-4 crate motor put in with all new fuel injection and intake... I also had nitrous put on. Re-did the suspension and drive train too. All the is left is the body which is in good condition just a few minor repairs then paint! had it dynoed a few weeks after the motor replacement and I am getting about 410 horse power to the tires! I will have to post some pics.

Here is my ex-boyfriend's '73 Mustang he is fixing up right now:

I love Mustangs, too. I always wanted a Mustang Cobra when I was younger. Or a Camaro. But I'm so short that when I drive sports cars like Camaros I end up looking out under the steering wheel. I'd still love one, though. Now I drive an XTerra. I like it, but it's not a classic.
When I was about 16 my uncle called and told me that he just bought a Corvette. I was very excited, then I saw the car, it was a 1957 Corvette, it was BEAUTIFUL. I told him, "Oh, I thought you got a new car." Geez! I was such a dork!!

I almost got my hands on a 1968 Camaro for $400 but the owner sold it before I could even get to an ATM machine. :banghead; Had freshly rebuilt 327 small block and posi rear.
But I LOVE old muscle cars. Absolutely love them. In fact, a buddy of mine is giving me a 1978 Pontiac Grand Prix, fixer upper. Can't wait to start turning some wrenches on it. ;)

It is in really great shape. I haven't done a thing to it. I got a really good deal on it several months back. It has a smaller engine, a 6 I think. The interior is in really good condition. it's all original except for a new paint job on '91.

I want a classic truck, not a car. A pick-up from the 50's with the big bubble fenders. . .
My best friend's uncle has one that he's restored. I want it!!!
Ah well, after I win the lotto. . . oh yeah, you have to actually buy tickets for that.

Jbeany, I believe that body style of truck you are describing is what's called a "step side". I love that body style because you can do so many modifications with them.

My dad had one YEARS ago. Wow I remember that thing. Think it was a chevy.

I googled stepside trucks, 1950 and got tons of ads for them. *sigh*
-
You know, you can get modern trucks with the stepside bed. All the top manufacturer's have them available.

Can't afford a new one, either. I don't have a vehicle right now - I had to sell mine to pay bills.
I like the classic ones better, anyhow. They just seem like so much fun. My best friend's father started working for GM when he was still a teen, since he was a major car buff. He has kept every vehicle he's ever owned, and they are all still in working condition. His oldest is his model T (He's in his late 80's now.) and it still runs just fine. he takes it to all the car shows and cruises around in it.

Back when I had my own shop, I took part in modifying a 1966 Chevy stepside pickup. We took out that wheezing in-line 6 and put in a very worked over 350ci V8. I did most of the drive line work including upgraded suspension and updated the brakes to hydraulic disk brakes. That was one fun truck when we got done with it. ;D

My mom's boyfriend has been building cars for years. Here are two of his T-bucket
hot rods. They sure are fun to drive!

cool. I love looking at cars, old ,new, I do not care. I know nothing about them, but I sure like to look at them. I chased one car down a street to get a better look at it. It was the new Ford Thunderbird. What a cute car. Anyone seen the new Saturn Convertible? It is too cute. I sat in one at the dealership and oohed and aahed over it. Too bad it will only fit two people and a box of kleenex in it!

I love Mustangs also. Mine isn't a classic but in my opinion any Mustang is part of a legend.
The classic car i would love to own is an 87 Grand National or 67 Shelby GT 500

I have a few. My "baby" is a 1981 Porsche 911SC. I actually drive it to dialysis quite a bit.

I don't hav pictures handy of cars I have had, they are in storage. I use to fix cars up and sell them when I got out of high school and worked in a body shop. I had a 67 Mustang which I regret selling. I had a 73 Olds Cutlass, another one I miss that I inherited, then had a 73 Mustang till I tried to agressively restore the car, but the rust was to damaging from leaks and ended up in the junk yard. Last and easiest car to restore was a 68 Beetle. Bought that car with only a milk crate seat, oh what fun that was to drive for a few miles :urcrazy;

If you live in or are visiting the Chicagoland area the place to go to look at and purchase classic cars is the Volo Car Museum and Antique Mall In Volo, IL. The selection of vehicles can't be beat and neither can the prices and financing. You can check them and their vehicles out at www.volocars.com (http://www.volocars.com)

My father-in-law just bought himself a retirement present--a 1977 Alfa Romeo Spyder Veloce. Unfortunately, he didn't clear it with my mother-in-law, so now he has to sell it! He's relisting it on eBay, but since he's never sold anything (nor bought anything before this car) on eBay, my husband will be taking care of the selling. So, now the car will be hanging out in our garage for a while. The picture is the one he bought on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180242101282

My grandfather had one too. Used it on their farm. It was a red one. He always had red vehicles because he was a fireman!

My car's not a classic, but it should be (in a few years, give or take!). ::) Well, mine might not be since I managed to scrape the paint off the entire length of the car yesterday while trying to maneuver out of our driveway. The transmission revved and my car shot backwards. I didn't even have time to brake before I hit the side of the house and scraped along the side of it! Yikes! My poor beautiful car! :'( Right now I drive a bright yellow 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally. Before that, I drove the base model. It was silver and didn't have the spoiler, skirts, leather steering wheel/gear shift knob, fold down rear seat, remote locks, etc. It was very basic. But the car handled so well, needed virtually no maintenance at all, never had problems, got great gas mileage and was rated a Consumer Reports best buy, I got another one (the one I've got now). Some day, when we can afford a new car, I want my next one will be the really souped up version, the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO! :bandance;

That's an awesome ride, Paddbear. I may bid on it. It would make a nice fit for my collection.

Back (77) in High school my girl friend's brother bought a 641/2 mustang 2+2 fast back. Factory 4 spd. So sweet and FAST! He paid $2400 off a dealer lot! Sold it about ten years ago for over 30K
