Title: Fresenius Baby K verses Nxstage....
Post by: tyefly on September 29, 2009, 09:59:01 AM
Want to here from people who have used the Fresinius Baby K  and find out how they like it , how easy it is to use and what kind of clearances they were able to obtain....  and if anyone did switch to nxstage  and if so what if any were the benifits....

I am trying to decide if I should use the Fresenius Baby K for nocturnal ( every other night ) at  home  or  go with the nxstage system which can only be done short daily  maybe with a little extended 3 hours  5 to six days a week....

Is the Fresenius easy to use  or what....     they have some kind of purification water system .....  does it use alot of water....
     thx kathy

Kathy, we hated the Baby K. When we we trained on it we we already using the 2008H and I loved that old machine. The Baby K didn't have some of the modules that you need to set up profiles and read blood pressures at different intervals. Still had to have the RO for water and it used more solutions, ie, saline, 1K and Bicarb. I wasn't impressed. We trained on it for a week and hubby got the call for his transplant the day before it was to be delivered. There is a God. We were going to do NxStage but the closest place for us to train was 100 miles away so we went with the 2008H. Hope this helps. Kathy

We use a fresenius machine  2008H but will soon be trained on a new fresenius at home machine. Hubby loves it!!!  We find it really good.  Hubby does a cycle of 3 nights on one night off, 2 nights on and a night off. His phos, potassium and everything else is in the normal range and he eats whatever he wants without binders.  We do have an ro for water.
