Enjoy yourself, Karol.... Go to see the Notre Dame Cathederal... It's lovely to spend an hour or so there... So peaceful, and the most beautiful stained glass windows....

I hope she has so much fun that you, okarol, are left shuddering and clutching your heart just as any mother of a young adult should be doing.
Okarol, you are amazing! You too, have such a good time that you need another two weeks off at home to recover. I'll be looking for the both of you on the international news (you know, "Mother and Daughter Duo Arrested for Scaling the Eiffel Tower... On the Outside!")
(and a special :clap; for Patrice)

Karol!
Have a GREAT time. I have friends at the embassy & British Air if you cause too much trouble in London and need a quick exit!
Have some Bacon & Cheese Bread from the Harrod's Food Halls for me, or a Mocha from Pret a Manger!!!

United called with a recorded message. The LAX to DULLES flight had been canceled and they left a number to call back for a new flight. I got disconnected 3 times and had to beg a woman in India not to hang up, because every time they tried to transfer the call to international it would go on hold, then disconnect. First they had booked us 2 different days. They now have re-booked both our flights for 24 hours later. The offered a flight for 6AM Sunday, coach instead of business, but we would have had to leave here at 3 AM and I just could not do it. So we now leave Monday morning and arrive in Paris Tuesday morning, allegedly. Same flight numbers.
:urcrazy;

Damn airlines. Good luck getting your flight!
-
Oh, I sure hope they dont lose your luggage, the dolts!!!
-
Have a lovely trip, enjoy every minute of it :cheer:
-
Oh, I sure hope they dont lose your luggage, the dolts!!!
You know Karol, this is something worth thinking about... If you can, put some of your clothes, underwear, footwear, etc into your daughter's luggage, and get her to do the same into yours... That way, if one item of luggage goes AWOL for a few days, you'll have something to wear while waiting to be reunited with it... One airline sent my WHEELCHAIR to Heathrow, while I was travelling to Brussles!... :banghead;. No fun!...
And don't worry about a thing while you're away... If the rest of this lot behave as nicely as I do, all will be fine!!!... :rofl;
Darth....
-
Take some Granola bars in your purse!
-
:rant; Damn airlines, charge us more and give us less. You and Jenna have a safe trip when you do go. :angel; We will be good. :cuddle;
-
Always pack a few snacks. I travel with a small thing of peanut butter and some crackers--just in case. And we do what Darth adviced, back a set of clothes in each others luggage. Then you know you have something! I also bring comfy things to change into after take off. Nice lose, warm top and even sleep pants! It is a long flight and you might as well be comfortable. Don't pack you medications. The blankets are terrible on the plane. A nice small fleece blanket will make the trip better. I go for comfort!!
I am so excited for both of you!!!!!
-
Have a great time Karol. You deserve a vacation. :2thumbsup;
-
Way to go, you two. Lucky, lucky, lucky. Hope you both have a fabulous time. Be sure and take lots of pics to post when you get back.
-
Bon voyage and have a wonderful time.
Are you travelling to London as well?
Kind regards from Kristina.
-
Yes, we will take a few days to visit the UK before I head back. :cheer:
-
Are you going to stay in London?
If so, would you like to meet?
Kind regards from Kristina.

Got to the airport at 5:40 am only to find out our new flight is cancelled. They rebooked us COACH thru Chicago, then Paris, with standby for Business class. I wonder if we'll ever get on the plane. We are now scheduled to leave at 11:00 am but its delayed too. ARRRGGHH! :banghead;
-
To bad you can't switch carriers, but also hope they refund your money quickly for the price difference between coach and busieness (Is that the new word for 1st class?). I'd pull out the medical necessity card if they put you 2 in different seats ;D :2thumbsup; To bad you can't use the diabetic card though, but luckily you don't have that one.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Kit n Stik; :Kit n Stik; :Kit n Stik;

That is no way for an airline to start anyone's adventure...especially not Jenna's...I mean, she's been waiting a long time already to get adventuring.
Next post better be about the wonderful flight you're having with VIP treatment and all stops pulled out. :cuddle; :cuddle;

How wonderful for you and Jenna. I am so happy that she is able to take this great journey.

The joys of frequent flyer mileage awards.
Glad you FINALLY got there Karol. You've been victims of the horrible cutbacks all carriers are making - thus making less options for everyone when things go awry.
Anyway hope you enjoyed your flight across the pond and definitely hope you got into Business. If not they owe you those miles back.
Anyway you're there and that's what counts!!! Have several lattes and French pastries for me!!! :)
How wonderful!!!!

Hello or should I say Bonjour!
Jenna and I are still in Paris. Today we finally got her signed up for French language classes and some cooking workshops.
We have been all over with our friend who lives here, she's been great. We have had some fabulous food at cafes and restaurants - it's a good thing we are walking hours and hours per day or I would weigh 900 lbs.
I have limited time on the computer as I am sharing it with Jenna, but I have uploaded some photos, if you want to take a look click here http://www.flickr.com/photos/karolfranks/sets/72157622368800561/
Last night we went to Notre Dame. We lit candles for Goofynina, JBeany and our IHD family. We aren't Catholic but figured it couldn't hurt!
We still hope to make it over to London but there's been so much here to keep us busy we haven't made a plan.
Today it rained which was nice for a change. I better go have coffee now or I'll need a nap.
Best wishes to you all!
:waving;

Your photos of Paris are fantastic! They give the feeling of Paris as it really is.
I love the wonderful decorative ironwork on balconies etc., in Paris, they are so beautiful and many of them are in cast iron!
At Versailles there is one of the most wonderful decorative Iron Gates by Louis Fordrin at the "potager du roi"
and there is a (very rare) Church in Paris, constructed in Cast Iron (L'Eglise Saint-Eugene) in the Rue du Conservatoire.
Have you walked to the Musee d'Orsay over the Bridge? You may notice many little padlocks
with different initials written on them. They are put there by couples, as a sign of their relationship.
A very sweet idea, almost a little like "La Boheme".
The Musee d'Orsay itself has one of the most beautiful Restaurants in Paris, in the style of "La Belle Epoque", very impressive
and it has one of the great art collections. The Rodin Museum also exhibits now works by Camille Claudel.
One of my favourite pictures is the one of Jenna and yourself with the Eiffel Tower on the left in the background,
you both look very relaxed and happy.
My other favourite is Jenna with her very "Parisienne" hat and Jenna with "Alfred".
Best wishes from Kristina.

Your photographs of Paris are divine and making me so desperate to return there! It looks like you're having an amazing time soaking up the culture and atmosphere of everyday Parisian life.
-
Thanks for sharing these photos Karol, it is SO good to see you and Jenna having such a wonderful and well deserved time together. Much love to both of you :cuddle; :cuddle;
-
:flower; Enjoy every last minute Okarol.
-
Thanks.
Jenna seems comfortable, even though she's a bit nervous about her intensive French class that starts today.
I need a few more croissants and coffees before I leave!
