Title: grumpygramp
Post by: grumpygramp on October 16, 2006, 02:40:25 PM
Grumpy gramp died on 10-9-06.He had been on dialysis for over 3 years and decided he would quit.In spite of all the stories we heard he did not suffer.He took no meds and it was just the two of us at home until the last morning when i called the kids and they were all here.He was sick for so long and had so much pain (the drs couldn't find the cause) so the family supported him in his decision.He was 79yrs.10mo.and 7days and the week before he died he said he had a good life and a great family and was ready to go.We were married 62yrs. so he will be missed.-----------by his wife

May each of us have someone in their life who loves and supports us the way you cared for your husband.  I think we all have tears reading your introduction.   May God give you comfort during this time.

Some may not agree with me, but that took courage!  It takes courage to face the facts and not put up with the pain and suffering anymore.  It takes courage to say good-bye with dignity.  He did love his family.  I enjoyed his posts.  We will add him to our Memorial Page.  God bless you and know that Grumpygramps is in a better place with no machines.

Thank you so much for taking time out from your time of loss to let us be a part of it.   I was so moved this morning when I read it, that it took me quite a time to even be able to write this.   Our sincere condolences, and we celebrate his life with you.  May the Lord be your comfort at this time.

He said in the beginning that he was doing dialysis mostly for his family and had really thought about quitting.  I give all of your family a lot of credit for letting him know that it was okay to go and leave the pain and machines behind.  He was brave to make that choice, and lucky to have all of you for support -- and I'm sure he knew that.

I remember typing my brother's obituary and it took hours, and many, many tears to get through it.  That you took the time and made the effort to let us know is appreciated.  My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve your tremendous loss.  :grouphug;

So very sorry for your loss, Mrs. grumpygramps!  He seemed to be such a caring man with many who loved him .  When the pain of living is so tremendous, may my loved ones also be so understanding.  My thoughts are with you and your 6 children and extended family at this difficult time of loss and change.  :'(   Anja
