We're in the process of renovating at the moment , knocking down walls, no kitchen sink, you get the drift. So who has been through this and how do you keep sain? :banghead; :banghead; :banghead; :banghead;

Tamera I used to do remodeling for a living and I have done a few kitchens and bathrooms for my customers. I have never done a job where I wasn't under stress to get the sink and/or toilet back in working order. Everyone seems to go understandably nuts but just remember certain things in a remodel job has to be done in a certain order and the contractor does take his job seriously and will get you up and running asap. I used to install running water(sink) and toilet daily before I left the job. The mess cleaned up daily is also important, that will really get at the ladies, ask your contractor to clean up the mess daily, a chaotic work site is an unsafe work site and clutter will drive you nuts. If your paying someone to do the work you have every right to be demanding.
-
Guess what Sluff, "The Contractor" is Allan, my man. He is a qualified carpenter, not that he does that for a living anymore, but he is tackling it all himself while still working Full Time.
Just wondering if i can still be demanding, after all I'm still paying him in some way ;) LOL

In that case you should keep cold beer handy in case it is needed immediately, You should also keep the path to the recliner and the TV remote handy just in case it is needed also. You also will have to make sure the mess is cleaned up and the tools well organized each day so he can find the proper tools when he needs them and doesn't have to step on all the debris. lol :)
-
Sorry Sluff, i have to disagree, with beer he would get full, drunk and want to sit on the recliner and nothing will get done thataway, i say for every task he gets done, remove an article of clothing, lol, believe me, IT WILL GET DONE!!! ;) YOU GO GIRL!!! :2thumbsup; GIRL POWER!!! :clap;

Believe me I'm doing my fair share of cleaning up tools and mess, and guess what he got the first day of hard work, a Massage!
So I think I'm doing my part of the deal for the Worker.

We have renovation currently going on in our house. Our bathroom in the master bedroom is completely stripped of tile. They are going to come in a build a bench in it and retile the entire bathroom with new tile , then seal it. It will certainly look different. We also pulled all of the carpet int he main living area and plan to put wood flooring down. The snap and lock kind that will last forever. It is happening slowly. A friend of my hubby's come to work on it at irregular times, so we wait on him. The trees which have to come out of the front yard are still there. One is half way down, but no one has come back to finish the job. *sigh* I will try to post some pics so you all can see the half mess we have here. I can live with tile and and concrete floors for awhile longer, but the bathroom has to be pretty quick.

Kitkatz you should get a ROLL-IN shower. Those are so cool, expensive but very nice for your husband. If I had a house, I would have one installed.

That is what we are doing but with the floor and tile we are puttiing into the shower. The floor will have a slight slant so all the shower water will drain into one area. A slight roll over the edge of the shower area so he can roll in there as needed with the wheelchair. Good idea. Also a bench will be in the back of the shower area for us to use.
Here are some pics of the master bath we have now. Lovely isn't it???

Oh man that is nice!!!! I wish I could afford a roll-in shower, I take a BIG risk everytime I have to transfer over the tub,, my bones are so bad. :( Maybe if I sell enough T-shirts. ::)
-
I told you the T-shirt would pay for things!!!
I just have to be patient and wait these slow men out. They come they go. They work, they stop, they eat, they talk, they work a little. *Sigh*

The TILE is the bathroom and the Royal Flush is in!! I have a picture of it with the hubby on it fully clothed LOL! It looks good. When the sink and shower fixtures are in I will post the after pictures of our bathroom. It already looks bigger because of the new tile! The picture here is a Ray Ray who put the toilet in after the tile guy was done and Victor on the Royal Flush! All you can see is the new tile, but there is new toilet under those guys somewhere!! ;D
-
Remember those ugly bathroom pictures from last time during the renovation? Well here is the bathroom now! What a change!
-
Wow ! That looks great Kitkatz, finished just in time for Christmas .
-
Love that tile!! Looks like they did a good job too.
-
Nice bathroom especially the commode... :clap;
-
Very nice Kit, i am sure it was well worth the wait huh? :2thumbsup; (say hi to Victor for us) ;)

Well damn! The other bathroom has a new tile floor. The hallway is painted a sunshiney yellow with white trim and my office is in a shambles becasue it is being readied for white paint today as I type. One bedroom has been painted white already. It looks like the painter is going berzerk in our house right now. But the bathrooms are almost done. I am going to claim the bathroom in the hallway mine and move my stuff into it and clear the girls' junk out. Hubby can have the other bathroom all to h8mself with the 500 dollar toilet and the renovations to it. I have bathroom stuff all over my dresser and am sick of living in junk. I need a regular place for the hairbrush and my shampoo. Nothing upsets me more in the morning than hunting for the hairbrush! I will try to post some pics when the chaos calms down!
-
Now the three bedrooms out of four are painted. The livingroom is painted too. New drapes are up in my office bedroom and the livingroom. I am slowly getting stuff dusted and back to normal room by room. It just takes time to do it all. I got my bathroom all arranged and the medicine cabinet dusted out and washed and my stuff put in it. I did not realize all of the fru-fru stuff I had in the bathroom until I had to put it away. Most of it has been given to me, too. I am going to decorate the livingroom with my lighthouse stuff I presently have all over the house in various rooms. It is all going to go into one room and I will commit to a theme in the one room. My office will have my personal treasures all over it. I just look at the mess and upheaval in the house and kick things out of the way as we go through it.

Now that I'm exhausted all the time, this is my regular modus operandi - my apartment looks as if a Salvation Army store exploded! :-[
But seriously, congrats on all the progress in your house - I think I'll live vicariously through your decorating!
-
Come on over, you would be quite comfortable in my early Salvation Army/Goodwill house!

Thanks! I quite like Salvation Army/Goodwill - it's so nice compared to what I had when I first got out of school years ago (Early Attic).

That's "Sally's Boutique Furnishings," noel. And "Bonne Volonté" has lovely things as well.
