Title: Anyone use same site cannulation device?
Post by: BigSky on October 15, 2006, 04:42:45 PM
If they only made this so it would work in the arm and could be used until no longer needed.

Has anyone used this over the regular catheters with the tubes coming out the chest or neck?

The claim is one can get this wet with some less demanding percautions as compared to other chest catheters.

The LifeSiteŽ Hemodialysis Access System

The LifeSiteŽ Hemodialysis Access System addresses many of the limitations of current hemodialysis access dialysis methods, and improves access effectiveness, performance, and use for both patients and clinicians. Vasca has developed and patented a unique valve technology and cannula connection system to meet the criteria for improved body access technology. The LifeSite System consists of two elements: an implantable valve and a cannula. The LifeSite valve is implanted subcutaneously and is attached to a patient's blood vessel via a venous cannula. The LifeSite System is often implanted on an outpatient basis and can be utilized immediately with no maturation time required prior to use. The LifeSite System is designed to allow patients an improved body image while also minimizing lifestyle limitation which may be associated with alternative hemodialysis access options.
