Almost anything country, or by Beethoven (his 9th symphony is my fave), cajun, blues.  No heavy metal, no screaming stuff, NO RAP, no gangsta music.

Did you read or see The Soloist?  Even if you're not a movie or enjoy reading, this would inspired the Beethoven love in you.

Gosh, I will really have to think about this, but Lady Noir - I am very glad to see you list included Iron Maiden!

I will make a start, and despite the fact that they are all metal bands, I do listen to a wide range of other music (it's just that metal is my favourite):

Iron Maiden
Suicidal Tendencies
LORD
Sepultura
Possessed
Testament
early Metallica
Slayer

However, if I had to name favourite songs, the list would be quite different. Included would be: "How Will I Laugh Tomorrow" by Suicidal Tendencies, "Dear God" by XTC, and "'Wuthering Heights" by Kate Bush

Garth Brooks (Best concert eva)
Taylor Swift
Bon Jovi
Montgomery Gentry
Nickelback
Trace Adkins (met him...OMG)
Josh Turner
Rodney Atkins
Billy Joel
George Strait -   and a little story bout George.  As any country fans know George doesn't make the rounds very often.  He only averages 26 shows per year.  When i heard he was coming to town my best friend and I rushed to get tix.  I wasnt feeling well as the weeks dragged closer to the show.  The day before the show i decided to go to the ER so I could take care of the issue and not miss it.  That however was not in the cards.  After waiting 10 years to see King George himself, I was admitted to a hospital room across the street from the venue where I was so kindly treated to watching all the cowboy hat laden boys going into the arena for the concert i would miss.GGGRRRRRRRRRRR.

I saw the Who's farewell concert tour in New York ... I believe in 1982. lol Ooops.  The first time I saw the Stones was in 1981 in Florida with The Henry Paul Band and Van Halen.  The show was all general admission so we got there at 4am.  I got up to the second row.  I saw Pink Floyd in Los Angeles in the late 80's it was a VERY cool show.  I was a huge Doors fan in high school.  They actually played at the high school in the next town over but I was way too young.  My aunt went.  I also have an uncle who was in the recording industry in the 60's.  He worked sound at Woodstock.  He has some really great stories about hanging out with a lot of the artists from that era.  Music has always been a big part of my life (over 100 Grateful Dead concerts, lol).

Wow, that's amazing! I'd love to hear these stories  :secret;
I reakon i was born in the wrong era. I should have been born in like 1949. Talk about ducked out being born in 1984  :thumbdown;
Ah well. My Dad introduced me to my passion for Classic Rock, and i can introduce my daughter. Her fave band is The Rolling Stones, and it's an awesome feeling! She's only 4!

Yeah, it just ain't the same, is it? Good luck to them, and all, but what they have done from the 1990's onwards is not for me.

Oh, and YLGuy made me think of another question on this subject - how many of the bands people are listing have they seen live? Of my list I have seen every one of the bands (some of them multiple times) except for Possessed. I'll re-post the list and the number of times I have seen each band:

Iron Maiden x 1 (best damn concert I have ever been to)
Suicidal Tendencies (too many times to count off the top of my head)
LORD x 4 (and again tomorrow night!)
Sepultura x 1
Possessed x 0 - damn :(((
Testament x 1
Metallica x 2
Slayer x 3 (should have been x 4, but they cancelled the last one at the last minute)

Also - Megadeth should really be on this list. Have seen them x 2.

That's a lot of concerts! I've only ever been to one - Satriani at the Gem in Detroit, ages and ages ago.  My first and last.  I sneezed for the next two days.  Pot smoke and I don't agree, and of course, we had seats in the back of beyond at the top of the balcony.
