Am I the only person who finds the taste of everything mentioned so far to be yummy? However, there are several things put forward that I find yucky because of the health implications. Too much fat, too much salt, too little nutrition...those are strong yucks for me.

:waving; hi twirl. Yep yep I think I know this is a thread, not real life, but in a thread AND in real life I really do choose foods on the basis of what it does to help or wreck my body's workings. I know we're talking about fantasies in a way but in my real life experience what we fantasize about eating ends up being what we chose to eat, often on too regular a basis, and when we can't have it we feel deprived, then we crave it, then we binge on it etc etc. Then when we're too fat we diet and we feel deprived again and so it goes. I was a pretty fat kid and I did it to myself in exactly this way. At 15 I thought about this fact...I love the taste of almost every food. I want to try them all, and I like the act of eating. So I developed a different strategy....and it has worked well.
In primitive times we found it crucial to our survival to avoid the berries or foods that were poisonous to us. This was smart. We are not so smart today, in very general terms because we do eat foods that end up being a kind of poison to our systems. Donuts are a good example for me. Taste good, could eat three at a sitting. Will never happen to my body. Why? White flour=no nutrition. Deep-fried=too much fat. Glazed tops=too much sugar. So there's a yummy BUT a way bigger yucky.
These thoughts are not judgments. They do reflect my world view. PS. I think this stuff about sex too. I love the idea of many things, but some could be "poison" to my body so as good as it might be in the moment, it ain't gonna happen without safety in place. Herpes no thanks...not to mention the other yucks.
Back to the thread. Sorry didn't mean to turn this into an essay contest.
Tuna fish on (whole grain) toast, yummy. Don't know about the peanut butter but I'd try it. Skip the coffee with that.

hen again I never was exposed to it as a kid and would never try it as a kid. All I can think about chicken feet is how my pet birds over the years were, not much to them and boney. It must have bone marrow that makes them good?
Had to fix my pet parakeets foot that was half bitten off by a pet conure parrot. Not much to them, but it did heal as a cleft foot.

When I was in South Africa, I was told by one of the locals that chicken feet is a traditional dish there, but of course I cannot remember which of the many cultural groups there claimed it as a tradition (Xhosa maybe?). This South African said he used to offer it to travelers visiting his place, but that North American/European/Australian/NZ foreigners were generally too grossed out to even try it, so it was not worth the effort.
I cannot remember who told me that they had tried it, and it was actually really bland. Must have been the prep.

I grew up with chicken foot soup...but they are pretty bland without lots of spices etc. I go to chinese restaurants here and they serve them with a delicious sauce. My friends from work used to go to dim sum with me and were disgusted at first but several ended up trying and liking them. I'll try to find a photo of my niece eating one here in Toronto.

Cassoulet - it's a French bean stew made with duck confit, lump of pork, course sausage , harricot beans and a tomatoe sauce.
a good one is to die for but can require some postage charges..

I love a good cassoulet (I used to live in Toulouse, where it is considered "native") but it's so rich I find I need very little. There are versions that skimp on the confit the saucisson which are things I like but don't eat.
How about tarte tatin? Upside down apple pie, sugar cookie dough type crust baked crisp on top while the apples get all sticky and carmelized underneath.
(Here again a small piece goes a long way)

Jean the dumplings for the pea soup are really easy. Use about a cup of flour or 1/2 cup of flour if you only want a few! Add a couple teaspoons of baking powder and water until you can stir them but not form balls with them. Drop them by spoonfuls into the soup. Cover and let cook in the boiling soup for 10 minutes (Don't take the cover off the pot until 10 minutes is up)

Schnapps and rum, actually. But it's not like there's any hard and fast rules for mixing drinks. I used to just use OJ and peach schnapps, nothing else. But that was ages ago. . . the last drink I had was champagne to toast in 2000.

Chris, scalloped corn is where you take 2 cans cream corn,1 sleeve of crackers ( saltines or "Ritz" ).Crush the crackers until they are fine crumbs,mix in corn,pour into greased baking dish, sprinkle with black pepper and dot with small pieces of butter that have been cut small.Bake in 350' oven 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Here, the East Anglian coast is a region for a different seaweed, Samphire, which was mentioned in King Lear. Grows on rocks that are splashed by the sea. It's very salty, even having been soaked for some time. Not really to my taste.

I'll accept that as a "yucky"!
I'll have to look for this Samphire next time I'm in the UK. If it's good enough for King Lear, I can at least give it a try.
(I tried laverbread once, in Wales, had to ask for both the bacon and cockles to be left out due to vegetarian diet. Needless to say, it wasn't very exciting, though I do believe it was fresh as I found much more sand than I usually like to consume in the dish....)

I should probably let someone else answer this one as well, but this actually got me to do some research as I have had vintage port (once, Bermuda, our tab was being fully covered) and it occurred to me that I spent $40US on a glass of port and could not remember which shipper, let alone what year. I remembered it started with a 'W', was not Warre, and guessed that the year would be 1964 as that is the year of Gwyn's birth. Silly me, there was no vintage port in 1964, so I am going to bet we had a Woodhouse 1963. It was divine.
So, vintage port? YUMMY! The year? Any! (Though I am sure I would especially appreciate a 1963 Graham's, spent in the company of a lovely fellow IHDer.... Stoday, when's your birthday?)

I can remember an occasion when I had Crępes Suzette at the University Arms Hotel, Cambridge. Whenever I ate there I always asked for the same waiter, Antonio. He was good at flambé dishes. I'd often eat a flambé steak followed by Crępes Suzette. Anyway, on this occasion the next door table were clearly impressed by Antonio's flambéing of my Crępes Suzette, caramelising sugar, then squeezing orange and lemon followed by shots of Cointreau and brandy. Only they didn't have Antonio as a waiter; theirs was a waitress with thick pebble specs who made a complete pig's ear of the dish. She never got it hot enough to flame, so called for another set of alcohol shots but still didn't manage it. I was sorry for the diners...

Toast with butter sounds good, but not with tomatoes on it. Mayo is the thing for me with tomatoes.
A pulled pork sandwich is a pork butt, cooked for at least 12 hours in a crockpot. You can then, instead of slicing it, pull it apart with two forks and some then put BBQ sauce on it. I personally like it with sweet and sour sauce on it. Its good, try it sometime.

Too young: needs at least 5 years. Also depends on the vineyard.
My favourite producer in Puligney-Montrachet is Etienne Sauzet and vineyard is La Garenne.
I've never drunk any of Vincent Girardin's wines though.
As for pancakes, my preference is for lemon juice and sugar. Or cooked as Crępes Suzette
There is a marked difference between European and American pancakes. European are much thinner and bigger (in area). You use a non non-stick pan and swirl the pancake batter to make it thinner. The pancake has two different sides: the first cooked has pretty swirls, the second spots. The pancake should be folded so that the pretty swirls are on the outside.
