My dear friends,
I am only just home and very tired but just had to let you know that Dad went into theatre this afternoon and was back on the ward just before 7, :thumbup; he was tired but talking lucidly and looked better than we had expected.
His leg has been amputated somewhere around the knee, it was carried out under an epidural (ugh!) but that hopefully means a better recovery and was safer for his heart. He will be in for between 2 and 3 weeks.
Thank you all so much for the support you have given us, we have a long way to go but a huge hurdle has been overcome today.
Bless you all

Thank God for that, Rose...
I was getting a bit twitchy about him maybe getting cancelled again...
Good to know that it's over... Onward and upward, eh???...
May God bless and protect you all...
Love...

Oh Rose, I am so glad the operation is over. Maybe now your Dad can start healing and recovering. I know there is a long road ahead, so I will keep saying lots of prayers for all of you. How did you Mum do during the operation? I hope she can get some rest. And you deserve a long nights sleep. Keep us posted, when you can. Lots of love and good thoughts :cuddle;

Thanks both. Mum has been quite stressed today but she feels much better now. I am shattered and the thought of traveling that far every day for the next 3 weeks is daunting but we'll cope, as long as Dad is getting better that's all that matters.
I'm off to bed now, see you all in the morning.
Bless you all, night night
Rose xx

Wonderful, wonderful news Rose.

Whew, glad that's done. Get a good night's sleep Rose.

I'm glad you and your mum are through this hurdle. Now, you can concentrate on Dad getting better, being in less pain, and getting home. Please keep us updated. I worry about you.
-
:cuddle; I pray your dad's recovery goes well. It's tough he's so far away - I hope you get through this Rose - hang in there.

Dear Rose,
Do get your rest. Be careful driving back and forth.
Hopefully some of your and your mum's stress will ease off now and your dad will continue to improve.

I had my first full night's sleep in months last night!
The ward Dad is now on only allows 1 hour visiting, so we travel for nearly 4 hours in total just to see him for an hour, we may see if we can find a small hotel or B&B nearby where we can stay over for an occasional night if he is going to be in for too long. They said 2 to 3 weeks but he is 80 and the pain has weakened him (not eating, feeling sick etc) as has the medication (more morphine than was good for him) so I don't expect it to be soon. I don't mind a slow recovery as long as it is a good one and Dad can see himself progressing.
Thank you all as ever for your continued love and support :grouphug; xxx

Dad's potassium is very high tonight and has caused heart problems, he has been moved to the HDU where they are doing dialysis and hoping to get it back down, he spoke to us when we visited but did not open his eyes - but he hasn't slept much in the night so I hope it is just a combination of tiredness and the trauma of the op. We were only able to stay a few minutes, we had waited for over 3 hours for him to be moved and then it was way past visiting time so we could only stay a short while because they needed to attach all sorts of machines to him. We will go back tomorrow and hope to see him improved.
Please keep him in your thoughts, thank you, Rose xxx

May god watch over you and your family Rose.
You have all had your share of heartache and pain.
Your all in my prayers :grouphug;

Our caring thoughts and prayers are with him all the way (and with you and your mom as well) :grouphug; I pray he improves bit by bit. And I pray your strength as you cope with travelling and seeing him.
Your IHD family is with you all the way. I know you know that!
