Just wanted to share the good news! My kidney started failing months ago and my first sign something was going on was swollen ankles. I have been on dialysis since 9/11 and they have been struggling to find my dry weight. But, we've about found it (15 lbs lower than they thought it was). Over the last month I had about given up on having cute ankles again. They were like little piggies on the end of my legs with sausage toes. I couldn't wear most of my shoes and any fluid at all would make them balloon even more. But now! Woo Hoo! They are back! I can even wear my anklet again. Painted my toes and everything! It's amazing what little things make you feel "normal."
:clap;

My ankles are the first to flood too. It is funny how they check my ankles at the beginning of dialysis, but not at the end.
At the beginning if there is fluid, the they should check at the end to see if it is gone. Don't ya think??

You would think. There for a while I was wearing clam-diggers and sandals and at the end of my sessions would point them out. "Look at my piggies? Why do I still have piggies? This isn't NORMAL" I"m not exactly a small girl and I think they just thought I had fat feet. Luckily I finally got my point across. :-)

:cuddle; Ha!!!! Yes I know this feeling.....I must've been going thru IgAn for well over a decade. My first hospitalisation was
in '94 with high (270/15) b.p. Years of medication......finally ESRF in late '03/early '04. So.....in all that time & even earlier, I had
'straight-down' 'fatted' calves. ;) ::)
Some months ago ( I came back to work in Jan), a colleague said "You've got ankles again! You haven't had ankles for years!!!" ::) ;D

I also know the feeling. I too now have ankles! Wearing closed in shoes to school again!
