thanks!

never been to seattle, but I think the best way to find any good doctor is a referral from another that you respect totally. Like a gp or internist or neph. Of course I always good the heck out of them once they are referred. I like to read papers or articles they have written (whether or not i can understand them).

I always do both...referrals from people I know as well as my doctors. I have emails into my docs as well and have asked another listserve that I belong to and trust the same question. I usually find that when the same name is mentioned by both patients and professionals, that's usually a good start.

yep, another thing I used was, once I had the name, calling the office and asking the reception or anybody who would talk to me...what's he like, would you go to her, etc.

Well, it's been my experience that office staff in general has a lot to be desired. I have only one doctor, my oncologist, who has an incredible staff that he has kept for years. I wish all docs would learn his secret about finding and maintaining quality staff. Unfortunately, it has been poor office staff that has forced me to leave good docs a few times. And if a doctors isn't willing to take responsibilty for his staff, to me, that's a reflection on him/her.
