Hello All:
My husband, Del, is 76 years old and was diagnosed with FSGS 18 months ago. At our Neph appointment this weeks his GFR was 15, so we are getting very close to dialysis. He is taking a bunch of new drugs (steroids) to try and help and I think they are making things worse. We are planning to do home hemo dialysis and after reading some of your posts I am sure many of you will be able to answer questions for us.
Del is retired and I work full time, so finding the time to do home hemo will be a challenge. But we feel it will be the best for his health and hopefully will have a less restrictive diet. We have lots to learn.

Welcome Rita, and by extension, Del. There is so much to learn and decide about dialysis but this is a great place for answers and support too.

:welcomesign; Rita. You have found the right place for information and support. What has your Neph said about home hemo? Have you considered PD? Hope you post often and have Del join. The more the merrier. :cuddle;

Welcome to our community, Rita! And give Del our welcome as well. This is just the place to be for anyone connected to this renal challenge. Here you will find lots of information "Information is Power" we say, loads of support and barrels of fun! In fact this is much more than a website - you will find out that it is a genuine family :grouphug; caring and sharing.
Where I am, the only process offered is in-centre dialysis, so that is the only thing I know about, but we have members here in every conceivable process, so just ask away. Keep reading, keep asking, and above all, keep posting!

I'm a newbie myself, welcome :)
Steroids are nasty little things and can do a lot of harm while they do a lot of good. I was on them for four years and cursed them daily!
