For a while now i havent felt right but i am never sure if its the change over to the cycler or just other things/levels in general. Anyway next week im going to get an adequacy test to see if its the cycler or not ..which will be good in one way , because if thats fine i can concentrate on finding out what else is making me feel like this ,but im not sure how im going to react if it comes back with bad results. Anyone else had this test done ? was it good or bad ?

Otto gets then OFTEN, that's how they know if he's been a good boy(5x's a week) or a BAD boy :Kit n Stik;
if Otto was truly doing dialysis likes he's suppose to and the test still came back no good then they would up him to 6x's a week.

I failed the adequacy test. My clearances are substandard on PD. Nurse says the peritoneum may be wearing out. That's why they want me to have hemo one day a week to boost clearances, along with PD.

Hi Red ..yes thats what im dreading , but since ive been on the cycler i just havent been right , very very lethargic , sometimes bloated (when i come off it in the mornings, so it shouldnt be fluid overload but thats how it feels) Did you find you noticed anything that made you think it wasnt working so well for you ?

Hi kickstart, No, I didn't notice too much, but I am always kind of lethargic. I am also dealing with a hip replacement that doesn't feel right, but I was disappointed in the clearances. I am on Aranesp for my hemoglobin, so that's not it. PTH is very high so that could be screwing things up. He has me on Sensipar and just increased to 90 mg. Hope it works.

Did not know that the peritoneum could wear out. Thanks for that info.

It's clearance rate suffers over time depending on the type of peritonum you have and strength of dialysis solution you use. Thats why we have regular pet and clearance tests to see if therapy is adequate.
