Title: Newbie caregiver
Post by: capeguy on July 24, 2009, 06:07:50 AM
Hello all. I'm a caregiver for my 87-year-old father (lives with me). His GFR has dropped from 23 to 15 in the last month or so, and I've been doing a bunch of research on dialysis since then. I just came across this site and was especially pleased to see the "caregivers" forum, so that's where I'll probably be spending the most time here.

Welcome to IHD capeguy,

Glad you found us, and there are many here that can help you on your new journey.  Plenty to read up on and plenty of people who you can ask questions to.
See you on the threads.

 :welcomesign;  you've definitely found the right site for info, understanding and support.  Caregiving can be tough and kidney disease affects so many more people than just the "patient".  Post often.

Our caregiver section is great. There is a lot of support over there.  Read everything you can for more information. The more you know the better treatment option you can give to him. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to our community!  It is great that your concern for your father brought you to us.  This is just the place for information, support and even some fun.  My own father passed away from kidney failure at 89 (in my country, they don't worry to dialyse elderly people).  I still feel robbed since he was such a lively, vibrant person.  Anyway, please take advantage of all this site has to offer.  We are not just a forum; we are a family :grouphug;  Just keep reading and keep posting.

Don't stop at the caregivers' area. Read through lots of posts for information and ask question!  :clap;

Welcome to our "family"!
