Title: Good news for my nurse
Post by: Adam_W on July 22, 2009, 06:54:57 PM
My home hemo nurse (and very good friend) has severe type 1 diabetes, and she was recently put on the list for a pancreas transplant. I was at the centre today, and I found out she got one last week. She wont be back to work until late next month (if everything goes well), but she is doing well now. I was so glad to find this out.

Good for her!  I wish someone had mentioned that as an option when I was kid - I wouldn't be here now!

Good for her. It suxks when familiar people are gone and your stuck with someone new that your not use to.

I agree jbean, wish I knew about it sooner as long as I met the centers qualifications. Then again as a kid I wouldn't have had the internet to look up things or the want to educate myself on my own health to be able to pick the best center. However in 1985 there weren't to many centers doing it since it was the first year one was performed in the US according to the book I read.
