On Tuesday the 14th i will be getting my PD access put in.
I am doing this a little early due to the fact that during my stress test for a TX a blockage was found.
I learned from this site (thx) that the dye they will be using to find the blockage may kill off my remaining kidney function. So i felt it best to have the PD access before having the operation for the stent to open my artery. My thoughts are i will be prepared if i do have total kidney failure.
So a new phase of my life is beginning........

:waving; Hey Paul,
Thinking of you - hope you're ok! :cuddle;

Good Luck Paul
In medical terminology, tx is the shorthand for two different things TX can mean either treatment or transplant. There might be another shorthand medical term that has two meanings, but this one I remember from class.

Thx again everyone.
All seems to have went well.
Only problem was in the preop room where i had to sign what i was having surgery for. One line said placement of PD access under that line was a line stating they were going to be taking out a cardiovascular something or other. I told everyone who would listen that there was nothing in me to be taken out. They say it was a mistake/maybe it was meant for another patient DUHH.
The last thing the anestigiologist(not in spell check? must have spelt it right) said before putting me under was. Dont worry Mr. Coupe' we will find the item that needs to come out.
It was good for a laugh.
I am feeling good as can be expected. Took the rest of the week off and other then being sore i am feeling confident.
-
Glad it's over for you, take care :cuddle;
-
Glad to hear things went well, Paul! :2thumbsup;
-
Well I am late as always reading this. *smile* But I am gald that it all seems so far so good. Keep us updated.
-
And so begins another
chapter in your PD journey...
Hope you are not in alot of pain.
Please keep the site clean,
you could wear your slacks like
the hip-hop doods, down around
your behind, hey! Does it hurt to
laugh? Miss Karen is probably the best
nurse!
-
Funny Paul...and a bit scarey. When I went in for tx surgery they asked "do you know what operation you are having today"? I said "sure, penis enlargement".
-
:rofl; :rofl; :rofl;
-
Happy to hear you are done with that Paul. Another day, another 50 cents, huh?
-
Glad you are doing well Paul, keep us posted. When are they going to start you on PD?
:waving; :cuddle;
-
Well tomorrow will be one week since the operation.
I have been pretty sore since Tuesday night. The weekend the pain was much more tolerable. I had to come back to work today. OUCH i think sitting upright (miss my recliner) and bending lifting (not much) has brought back much of the pain. I would have stayed out of work but my owners/bosses are away this week so i need to be here.
I was gonna take some pain pills but i dint want to mask the pain to much and in the end do sever damage.
Not sure when i will actually start dialysis Rerun. Not for a month or so i am thinking.
I got the PD done so when i go to get a heart Cath if the dye takes out my remaining kidney function i would be able to do dialysis through pd rather then a neck cath.
I have no idea what the site looks like. Am getting the bandages changed & a flush tomorrow and will get my first look at the new addition to my body.
Thx again to IHD and ALL THE MEMBERS

:cuddle; Hey Paul, take it easy - I hope you heal quickly!
-
Hope you get to feeling better......
-
Thinkng of you. It doesn't take too long to heal. Then all us pd'ers can stand in a line and do a can can like dance swinging our catheters....
