our electric bill was only 237.00
we were afraid to open it
we have a two story house with air conditioning units for downstairs and upstairs
praying before opening the mail can help
-
my bill was 193 last month with a little one story house... I'm scared to death it will top 350 this time.
-
We have a little one story and are bill was $310 no air conditioning on yet I know it ia going to double.
-
Small apartment with AC was $40.25.
:cheer:
-
mine was 335.00 this month, and next month will probably be 450.00. But then I will be in a new place (new to me) which is smaller, and I am hoping for a 250.00.
-
Okay then, I will stop complaining. Mine was only $105.00 this month. Next month will be another story. BUT, we live in a 1700 sq ft mobil home, and so far it has been a relatively cool summer.
-
Ours was $200, next month will be more. I run lots of ceiling fans along with the air conditioner, and I think (at least in my own mind!) that is helps. I keep the temp set at 80.
-
My combined electric and gas bill is £72 a month, just over a $100 in your colonial money!
It nosedived after the children moved out, I reckon I could half it if it was,nt for the wife.
-
341.57
Can I borrow 340?
-
crawford you are ahead of the game --- you did not top 350
yeah for you
conserving electricity :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
-
Dang people! I guess everything IS bigger in Texas. My bill last month was $62. But it's just me and the dog and he doesn't use the power much. He does have his own fan that he sleeps in front of.
:)
-
I made a mistake. It is only 325.30. The 341 is if I don't pay it by the due date.
-
Wenchie, $62? It pays to live north and in the woods! :2thumbsup;
-
see, you did good -- you are well under 350 I know I am proud of you
we have no children at home to turn down the upstairs unit to 50 degrees :stressed;
and where is that Goode Seafood restaurant and is the gumbo seafood and red and gumbo
and oh, how I could go on
-
Mine is $150 per month on equal billing because I have electric heat... You don't use heat in the summer , but in the winter the bills would kill ya so the spread them out
PS I hate Nova Scotia Power
-
well,Kimmie, move to Texas
we ain't never heared of Nova Scotia Power
we ususally do not use our heat in winter
-
So you are the total opposite of here, more power in the winter here and more power in the summer there
-
yes
opposites attract
I am hot
you are cold :yahoo; :yahoo; :yahoo;
-
There are several Goode Company restaurant each with a different kind of food. My favorite is the Seafood place. One even boast the best Pecan Pie as named by the food TV network. All are near Kirby just soutn of Hwy 59. Drive around. You'll find it. I've already had a chopped sirloing steat burger else I'd go get some Gumbo.
-
Mine's about $200 in winter - but we have a woodburner which heats the water, so our power will probably go up a bit in summer. Also, $200 NZ is only about $120 US
-
Mine was 125
-
aren't you in New Mexico
isn't that a hot state
what is your secret :waiting;
-
I'm like kimmie ours is higher in the winter. Usually at least $200 and we don't use electric heat!!! We have a wood and oil furnace!! Summer is a little lower but I would faint if it was under $100!! Hubby uses a lot of tools in the shed plus the dialysis machine uses hot water and electricity.
-
I forgot that I signed with Reliant for two years and I get a discount in July and August....
Hey, I just installed a new energy efficient AC too.
-
2 story house $465.00 now you know why i keep working
-
we have a large two story and we have two units
we keep the upstairs off unless someone comes to visit
when my children were home our bill was always over 400 in the summer months which is about every month in Texas
we also run the polarus all the time to keep the pool clean
how many people live with you to share the bill
Bless your heart ---- that is a big bill
-
I wonder what David13 pays for electricity >:( :rofl;
and okarol -- wait --- does it get that hot in California
-
Houston peopel, check your bill. It is really a little over a month. I guess mine would have been under 300 if 30 days or less but it was for 34 days... I feel a little better.
-
Our electric bill was 197.50 and Len about had a fit. I got to looking at it and the same thing that dwcrawford said is true for us. 34 day reading. We have a one story 2000 sq ft house but I have to admit we keep the thermostat set at 72 and the hot tub set at 90. Our water and sewage bill is the one that really pisses me off, it keeps going up and up and there is only 2 of us, surely 2 yorkies can;t drink that much water. :stressed;
-
Oh my, water, sewage is usually 14 ... this time it is 69 and I have no idea why. didn't water the yard. just watched it all die.
-
dwcrawford that's what ours was too, although ours has never been 14. Ours usually run about 30 to 45 and now 69. What's us with that I wonder????
-
My electricity was just under $19 last month.
-
I'm going to call Monday and make them come out and check, willie.
-
aren't you in New Mexico
isn't that a hot state
what is your secret :waiting;
\I don't know I think it is my fridge air. It dosn't need to stay going at all times...maybe :waiting;
-
My ac just gives up this time of day. Haven't been out. 4 fans running and I'm sweating.
-
Dan come on over we are having some posole tonight with some beer and lime. And it is nice and cool and you get to watch a good fight.
-
posole! I need directions, please Manda!
:rofl;
-
If the beer is nice and cold I'll be there.
-
You all are more then welcome. haha
-
last week I had a really good Mexican beer and can't remember the name. it had a bright yellow label and I bet I can find it at Fiesta grocery.... I'll go see.
-
MandaMe -- who is fighting
-
You and your stick nurse.
-
All of the utilities are squeezing the consumer for every penny!
-
What is interesting is how much everyone pays per unit. Over here (NZ) it's about 18c per kw. That's way more than in the State I think. We also pay a monthly set charge of about $35 - whether you use any electricity or not. I don't know what it is in England or other places.
-
I live in Pittsburgh and it gets really humid, I don't have central air but I have ceiling fans in every room that are always on and also have several circular fans for the bedrooms at night, anyway my bill was about 70.00 and that is pretty high for me :stressed;
-
just got off computer from paying my 325 elect bill and 67 water bill and 15 dollar gas bill..... Now what can I eat for this month? How much is Spam and is it renal friendly?
-
love your " in the dog house donkey"
renal friendly spam -- 2 tablespoons / day
-
My ass is behind bars....
-
My ass is behind bars....
really cool ;D
-
this coming month --- mine will be the most -- do I get a prize
we have had upstairs company and they think they are visiting that hotel in Alaska ( or some freezing location) that is made only of ice
we have two units - one for :thumbup; and one for :thumbdown;
I am worried ---- >:(
-
My electricity & gas supplier here in the UK charges me a concessionary rate because I'm over 60. The charge is according to the number of bedrooms, so as I only have two, the rate is low. They do not take account of the fact that my house is larger than the UK average nor that I have central air con.
Last year they charged me £65/month ($107) for gas & electricity. They got wise this year and increased the charge to £146 ($240). However that's still 20% lower than the market rate. Morons. :2thumbsup;
-
I'm going to call Monday and make them come out and check my willie.
Boasting again?
:rofl;
-
I'm going to call Monday and make them come out and check, willie.
Somebody is messing with quotes... and my guess it is a Brit. We don't know what that means.
I'm going to call Monday and make them come out and check my willie.
Boasting again?
:rofl;

I have to say, this is a contest I don't want to win, despite my being SOOO competitive. Alas, though here goes... 438. this month. Damn HOT FLASHES!!!!! :banghead;
-
Ouch, mine was $315.00. Yikes!!!!
-
didn't get mine yet, but sure hope you guys all win.
-
Mine should be here in a few days. I think I won't open it right away. I know I won't be happy with the amount. :thumbdown;
-
crawford
willie????? :yahoo;
-
Did you do that? Who changed my post?
-
just saw this post. i guess i'm very lucky. we belong to an electric co-op and my bill runs about $50 to $75 all year long. but then i've never turned the ac on in this house. my gas bill was the problem, (separate company) last february it was $300 ugh! and i only had the heat set at 68. i turned it down and got a blanket! this time of year it runs about $15. my biggest problem is water. it's owned by the city and comes from ground water not reservoir and is at least $100 a month. luckily we have had a lot of rain this summer and i haven't had to water the lawn.
-
:banghead; :boxing; :stressed; Got our electric bill yesterday, 335.31. That was for 34 days and I'm guessing the end of August will be our highest. :banghead;\
Our water bill was 108.00 which I can understand, we had some landscaping done, grass planted and had our house and deck power washed. I'll let them slide this time but if next months is high I am going to :boxing; with the water company.
-
Crawford — you are soooo serious!
There's a distinction, understood by all in the UK, between Willie and willie. I thought "willie" rather echoed the title of this thread. Sorry to have made a joke that can't be understood by most in the US (excepting Twirl who is clearly "with it").
It's a bit like the expression "keep your pecker up", which in UK English only means "keep cheerful" although I am aware that the same words have a completely different meaning in the US.
-
stoday, actually I thought your escapde was funny. wasn't offended at all. why wouldn't i brag?
I really thought it was my friend Twirl who made the change and was harassing her about it.
-
Our last bill fo the period ending in July was $89. Since we have no winter here, that is about our normal year-round bill. Water about $44.
-
Our bill is 114 dollers this month!!!! I am super excited. I guess using 90% windmill enegry is payong off for me this year. :bandance;
-
You use wind energy? How cool. How much did it cost to install?
-
In Houston, Green Mountain is charge only .12 flat rate for a year. I'm going to see how much to get out of my reliant contract.
-
It didn't cost anything to install, New Mexico is a green state. So our energy company offers it as a option. Here you can buy it in bricks its called, and once you use that amount need to buy more, or you can just pick a % rate and average it out. It cost a little more this way, but I use more wind mill energy this way.
