Hey all,
Glad to be here! Now to introduce myself;
Kidney problems have always been a part of my life. I was born with a defect of only having one functional kidney. The other was completely useless and shriveled like a prune. Then, to make things worse, my bladder refluxed back into the remaining kidney, whiping more than half of it out. (Talk about being dealt a bad hand :P) To make a long story short, I managed to get some 21 years out the partial kidney I had. It's kind of funny, it's almost as if it was holding out for me to finish college because shortly after graduating I had to go on dialysis.
I am on peritoneal dialysis done at night with the cycler machine. Everything is going great, and I felt such an improvement about a week after starting up. I am now 23 and working full time.
Outside of kidney related things my interests include all types of games (video, computer, card, board, etc) and music.
I hope to offer support and advice, because kidney issues have always been such a big part of my life. I wear my catheter with pride. It's a part of who I am, and why should I be ashamed of myself? :2thumbsup;

Welcome Dave, I love your attitude - quite right that you should not be ashamed - love you love your cath eh! :2thumbsup;

:welcomesign; Dave. I look forward to getting to know you and to hearing about your experiences with all things kidney related. If attitude is half the battle then you've already won the battle IMO.

Welcome aboard, Dave. I am also on the cycler at night. I have a pre-sternal catheter, and it did take some getting used to, but when I finally had a dream about dancing naked in front of an audience, with my catheter plainly visible, I knew I had accepted it! Come on back and post often.

Welcome Davy...
Love your comment about wearing your cathether with pride... That's what Mum says now... I won't repeat what Mum calls her Tenchkoff, but let's just say it's connected to the male anatomy! ;D...
