It seems that there is a great variety in the prescription of dialysis these days. As patients we have more choices than ever before.
So, please tell us, how often do you dialyze, and how many hours per treatment? In center or home, standard or nocturnal?
Standard three days a week? Is it six nights and one off (as in nocturnal), five nights in a row and then two days off, or every other day/night (four days/week)?
How many hours: 2 hours, 3 hours, 6 hours, 10 hours?
Me: 3 times a week. 4.5 hours/tx. Standard, in-center. ;)

I am doing nocturnal at home . doing 6 hour runs 6 days a week for the last year now and feeling much better

-
5 days a week 2:30 to 2:45 (varies per fluid removal goal) using NxStage. Previously 12+ years 3 times weekly 3.0 hours.
-
I do 4 hours three times a week.

I go monday, wednesday and friday for 3 hours. My on time is 6:15 am. Which is great, cuz if I need too, I can take a nap before work. The only prob is I have to drive 30 mins away. Some days I can barely keep my eyes open. I can't tell you how many times I've almost driven into the ditch. I need to pull over more often.
Someone is Most Definately watching over me. :angel;

I do in center Hemo Mon, Wed, Fri for 3.5 hours a treatment. I love night shift!! I usually get on around 5- 5:30 PM sometimes later depending on work then get home around 9:30 PM and sleep off the effects so I am good to go the next morning. Usually take off 2-2.5 Kilos Mon and 1-1.5 Wed and Fri.

I'm on Nocturnal Every Second Night For Eight Hours, And Feeling NEARLY like a "real" (lol) person compared to when I was doing 4 hourly sessions three times a week. :clap;
-
Night-time PD everyday, 8-9Hrs on using 6-8Liters with either 3 or 4 exchanges.
-
Just like goofynina - except 9 hours everynight. (except for the nights I cheat and don't run), 6 exchanges at 2000 ml.
I feel good except a little buzzy sometimes. Can that be my phosphorous levels? ???
-
Well i do 7 hours 4 times week, I get on early in the morning and finish after lunch. The doc. told me its important to keep up these hours to keep me as healthy as possible.

Hey, you get a night off? i wish i could, but i have a drinking problem, lol, what are your total UF's like Ken? When i use 2 reds and 1 green, i get a Uf of close to 3,000 with a manual drain of 3800 :o ::)

I've been a three day a week, three hour treatments since I started back in May of 2004. My doctor (for whatever reason, probably to save money at the clinic) tried lowering me to 2 1/2 hours and then 2, but the pain was unbearable.
What's interesting is I just signed up for a national research study at my clinic. I'll be placed into one of two groups, the control group 3 hours a week, three hours at a time. Or I'll be placed in the experimental group 6 days a week for two hours. It's a one year study and they believe 6 days a week could help alleviate the side effects of Dialysis. I've had to undergo a ton of tests, mental, physical and medical. But they pay $75 for the MRI and $30 a week for extra travel costs to and from Dialysis.
I find out in early November which group I'm in. I'm not excited about more needle sticks, but if it makes me feel better (and improves the quality of my radio show) then it's all worth it.

More needle sticks? Don't you do button hole?

I do in-centre haemo (the only option here), three days per week - M, W, F, and for 4 hours.

Goofynina, sorry that was a typing error. In the last line 'I do CAPD on Friday and Sunday' should have read Friday Saturday and Sunday so that I can sleep in my own bed Friday and Saturday. I do daytime CAPD to compensate for my nights off.
My UF is always a zero or minus figure up to now because I'm still peeing like John Wayne's Horse!. I only use the weak stuff in the yellow bags but I guess once my output starts to go less I'll go onto the stronger fluid.

When I was on PD I was always using the Yellow (1.5%) bags until I finally stopped peeing. Then most of the time it was the green bags (2.5%) and once in awhile (rarely) it was the red ones (4.25%) bags.

Is the stuff in the red bags the one that puts a lot of wear and tear on the peritoneum till eventually it becomes unusable?
-
I have never heard that, i just know the red bags are the ones loaded with the most amount of calories and that is the one that makes you gain the weight the most, but luckily, even though i use a red one everyday, i havent gained so i think it all depends on the person, the red ones help alot when you are really overloaded. I have been getting these dizzy spells and my PD nurse told me to try and use 3 greens instead of 2 greens and a red cuz she thinks i may be dehydrated, huh? imagine that, me? dehdrated? yah right, lol,
-
Goofinya, if you are dehydrated why the hell would she get you to use a green and red bags? I dont get it :-\ I got so dehydrated on PD from being sick everyday that I was almost bad enough to use a 0% bag. If you are dizzy (depending on BP), I would be using a yellow bag. But I guess you know how much fluid you have on, and what your BP is.

Ya I got myself dehydrated once while on PD cycler. One of the signs is definately dizzyness.
I had to switch from using green to using yellow and a green once in awhile.

Tues/Thurs/Sat 4hours each time. Tescio Lines in neck for past 4 years, the ones I have in now, I have had in for over 3 years. But the Nurses are trying to get me back on Needles. But my fistula is a new one, got formed May 1980 ::) Only let two Nurses put needles in, if not there the lines are used. Lucky for me Shirley as been off for the last 3 weeks. But she was back on Thursday so had One Needle, I was like a rabbit caught in the headlights of a car :o

I run 5 hours, 3x/week. In December, I should be dialyzing at home 6x/week on NxStage.
-
I do PD... so I do dialysis everynight 8-9 hours. 6 fills of 2400, 45 min dwells, no last fill. So... 365 days a year I do dialysis.. wheeee.
-
Three times a week on M/W/F evenings after work from 5pm - 10pm for 4.25 hours. Get home at about 11pm at night completely knackered (that means exhausted to you Americans out there!)
