I know the airlines can't charge to check the NxStage machine and IV pole. What about a case of saline and a box of daily dialysis supplies? I will be travelling for 15 days so the box of supplies is about the size of a box of dialysate.
Have any of you checked your saline and supplies on the plane? If so, did they charge you?

I stick the saline in with the bracket and check everything - four items get checked for free: the machine (in its hard case), the pole, the warmer and the warmer/pole bracket.
One time I did ship the saline to a second destination. I had a week in DC (with supplies I packed) followed by a week in FLA with supplies I sent ahead.

That's good to know, thanks. Then you pack your daily supplies (needles, gauze, pads, tape, epo etc) in a carry-on?
