Title: Arm Access Surgery
Post by: monsterman on June 09, 2009, 11:27:25 PM
Hey Everyone!

Well its been a week since I got my Arm Access put in. Yes I went with the Fistula! Surgery went so smooth I dont even feel like I had it yet. Arm was a little sore for a few days but otherwise I really cant complain about it. I had my Follow Up last week and they said it looks great. I go back in 2 weeks and they are going to hook me up and try it out. Some are telling me thats way to soon but he's the Dr and I am really confident he knows what he is doing.

So I hope to get this "Heart Plug" out of my chest real soon! It will be so NICE to be able to take a real shower!! And the Long Island weather has been really nice and almost warm enough to go swimming..

It must be a graft not an AV fistula.  Did they tell you the difference?

You guys are all so knowledgeable!!!!! I thought a fistula went under your skin. Now I am confused. Again.

Monsterman was referring to "foreign objects" being under his skin.  A fistula is under your skin but it is not artificial.

Just like everything else, people and drs are so different when it comes to fistulas.

My husband's was declared ready to use after a month. His is great! We did not need it at that time, though.

Others have to wait much longer for them to mature.

Love the picture, Marc.
