To whom it may concern:
On January 10, 2007, I made my first post on this site. I had been on dialysis for over a year and basically I was ready to stop treatment. I was asking those on dialysis what they thought and if they had ever had similiar thoughts.
Well, needless to say, I did not stop treatment but just ONE YEAR later, a friend of the family came forward and announced to me that he was going to donate one of his kidneys to me. His name is Joey Bich (sounds like dish).
After all the evaluations were done, the transplant happened on July 25, 2008! I think now of all that I would have missed if I had gone through with stopping treatment......
So, if you are depressed and wondering if it is dialysis is any way to live and if it is worth the wait, my word to you is YES, IT IS WORTH IT!
Now, I always think back to my rebirth of life through his donation and think, "You just never know when you are going to get that letter, or phone call, or visit that will TOTALLY TURN YOUR LIFE AROUND!
It is my hope that by reading this, you may indeed hang on just one more day and after that....hang on for just one more day and after that.....

What a very encouraging post CRG59. It is so hard when we feel really sick to imagine feeling great again and the flip is also true. When we're really healthy it's hard to know just how despairing we can become through illness.
Please tell Joe that we, people he's never met or even talked to in cyberspace, also think he's a hero for stepping up and donating his kidney and another chance for a more normal life to you. Living donors rock and that makes Joe a star.
Best of luck and many many many years of health with that new kidney, Curt.

Hi, Curt.
I'm so glad that you stuck with it one day at a time. And thanks for an inspirational post. I always get pretty misty-eyed over transplant stories and yours hit the mark. :thx;

Dear Curt,
It is very true what you are saying.
Sometimes things look very bleak and then all of a sudden,
we look at things from a different angle and things change,
or that phone call, letter or visit arrives
and changes everything for the better.
Thank you so much to share
your experience with us.
Take care and good luck!
