"Spirits Triumphant," a soaring sculpture with two intertwining spikes by artist Kenny Mirman, will be dedicated today at the new DaVita UCLA Dialysis Center in West Los Angeles.

The large-scale, curving steel sculpture is intended to honor the spirits of patients, families and healers, according to press materials.

The art installation, 82 feet wide and 35 feet high, is the latest work by Mirman, who produced pioneering computer animation for such movies as "Tron" and "Titanic" and a number of music videos.

The new center will serve more than 100 kidney dialysis patients each week.

The dedication ceremony for the dialysis center and the artwork will be at 2:30 p.m. at 10630 Santa Monica Blvd.
