Hi nice to join you all!!Been reading this site for about 3 months plucking to courage to admit to self i really am 'one of them'. Became ill very suddenly in May 2007- never been ill, no hospital visits except for the births of my 2 kids(now 15 and 15), Don't drink at all or smoke, always very healthy then started with headaches- visted doc, he said blood pressure a little high but nothing to worry about, - gave me migrane tablets . over the next 5 months got worse headaches andhe gae me repeat prescriptions for migrane until I spent most of the weekend on the bathroom floor vomiting.Saw Dr. monday at 4.30 by 9.00 they had my blood and urine back, sent an ambulance out to admit me and by 4pm the next day I was on a life support machine. Blood pressure 250+/130+, after 4 dys they told me my kidneys had failed and I would need a transplant!!!! WHOA!!!!
I wnt through the next year in a blur of denial, almost trance like and still fely reasonably well- still had mt energy reserves but the second year was B******S. Problems with calcuim and phosphate, Was on CPAD but didn't work very well and then I got peritonitis and had yo go on H.D. Then problems with Pottassium where my muscles became paralysed in legs and neck- very scary!! It lasted 3 weeks and disappeared as suddenly as it came, Then had my parathyroidectomy and was really ill afterwards, think it was just a cumilation of 4 general anaesthetice in under a year and my body said WHOA -too much!!!
I still work, i'm an addictions therapist and work in a treatment centre for heroin ,crack, and all substance addictions plus eating disorders and self-harmers.Can be hard when they think I'm one of them with aa the 'track' marks up my arm!!!
Nice to join you all I can talk for England so will leave it there for now!! :cheer:

Although this is not a club that anyone would want to join willingly, if a person happens to be stuck with ESRD then this is a very good group to hang out with. Sounds like you've had your share of the rollercoaster ride that is kidney disease and I look forward to getting to know you through this site. :welcomesign;

Dear Susie,
I am so sorry for the ordeal
you went through.
Migraines indeed!
I do hope,
your BP is now being
professionally looked after
and your PCT gave you a chance
to change the GP-doctor?
All the best and good luck.

Welcome, Susie!! You've been through a lot. I'm glad you decided to post, there are a lot of people on here who share similar stories. How are you feeling these days?
-
Ms Susie,
Welcome. I have only been here a short time but have found loads of information and support. I am blessed that I am just battling not to have to do dialysis. I had one bout with kidney failure and did not like it. Real surprise huh. Well, hang in there. We'll pray that you begin improving right away.
Be blessed,
Leon
