well this just what I thought, bunch of folks in the same boat. I do enjoy cooking has been therapy for me for years, wife has never had to cook and we eat good. Like most of our diets we had to give up salt cooking or adding to our food.
I use Citric acid the same stuff canners have used for years. You can by it on eBay us it just like salt with a pinch less. After a long using no salt at all it is refreshing to come close. It brightens up all food Mosley grits and mashed potatoes.
if you have any request just write me.

Well, I feel closer to you guys than most of the people around me.
Does anyone have bouts of depression that set in for no apparent reason ?
When you Carrie a gun people get a little up set when this happens, however my training does not allow me to loose it completely.
Training is very important it allows the body to respond to issues with instink instead of emotions that can be cloudy given out current political environment.
Without getting to deep I bid you a good night John Boy.

Is that Paula Dean? Or does your wife look like Paula Dean?
-
Well, I'm married to a 53 year old redhead, a ball of fire, with compation and zest to see me survive above whatever I think

Hi, Bountyhunter.
Bouts of depression? Yes, indeed. They blindside me when I least expect them. Having IHD really, really helps.

Hi Bounty Hunter,
I'm glad you found IHD. You'll find many, many people here who can relate to what you're going through and are more than willing to listen when you need them to and will also offer advice if that's what you want too.
I'm also a huge fan of Paula Deen although I must say that I don't fix too many of her recipes (can you say too much butter!). I've attached a photo of my hubby and myself when we visited her restaurant about 3 years ago. I love southern cooking and eating there was a real treat.

You know people who can cook are far more happier than people that just bitch about life.
If this little bout with my kidney going south has taught me, is that life is so neat.
You know that Paula's is a cardboard cut out. Myself and another deputy where in Savannah to pick up a prisoner,so why not eat downtown.
They told us at the door we needed an appointment to get in, well I replied I have papers for Paula we can wait inside OR go tho her house. As you would guess we had lunch there then the general manager of the restaurant gave us a tour through the back room kitchen. The trip ended up being very special for us. I did buy an autographed cook book for my sister in law who set up my fundraiser and worked non stop for three months.
You know getting sick can be what ever you want it to be, I choose to live with it and fight the depression when it hits.
My daughter is getting married July 31,09. August 01 we are having a reception and all that stuff at our house for about 80 or so friends.
A simple BBQ will do I wish all y'all could come.

I can't cook and I'm pretty happy. I'd love to come to your BBQ but I tend to avoid law enrocement officer and bounty hunters.
True Story: Back when Geoge I was president, I was working in Midland, Texas and staying on the concierge floor at the Hilton. Over a couple of day I because friends with a very nice man as we sat around in the evening watching TV and drinking bourbon, commenting on politices, etc. . I found out his room was next door to mine and there was a door in between. This one night he opened the door and he had a visible gun. Oh well, its Texas I thought. Later that nice he came by, Just to Chat. As it grew later he wouldn't leave. I found out later that George II (lovely know as the Shrub) was giving a talk in the hotel and because of my past rhetoric they were checking me out. This dude turned out to be Secret Service. He later told me he'd determiined I was just a big mouth but it was already his assignment.
I'm actually harmless.

i get bouts of depression a lot, for no reason, or at least, i say they're for no reason. i'm sure if I sat and thought about it, i could make a list! But I won't dwell on that. i just try to remember all the things that I am grateful for in spite of what I am going through. I have a wonderful husband and a terrific son, they are my reasons for keeping going. I too love Paula Dean, she's a hoot! Stick with this group, I've only been here a short time, and have already gotten so much from them.

Hey Marti - I'd be worried if you didn't get down sometimes. Same for all of us - caregivers included. You just have to live through the down bits, and stay focussed on positive threads. I think negative threads are dangerous.
