I am getting ready to take my first airline trip since receiving my Baxter PD cycler. I really do not know what to expect from the airline nor the security personnel at the airport when I take my cycler through "the system." I would appreciate any advice and guidance that anyone could offer. Thanks in advance for your help. This site is truly a blessing.

Three years ago, I took my cycler with me as a carried on. (This was before the airlines charged extras for carried ons.) In addition, I got letters from the dialysis center stating that the cycler must be a carried on because it was a life saving machine and luggages get lost if they were sent through. Good luck and have fun on your vacation.

Contact the TSA and your airline about this. They are required to allow you to carry it on without charging any extra fee, but you have to make the arrangements ahead of time.
Someone at our clinic flew with their NxStage cycler recently and even after going through all the protocols, they had trouble flying BACK!
