Title: Rejection treatment

Has anyone had any treatment for rejection?  I am in my transplant hospital.... we just did an 'open biopsy' which means they gave me a general, cut me open and cut a pinky nail  piece of kidney.  We should hear the results pretty soon. 

My tx surgeon said he thinks it might be a rejection episode.  If so, I come back to Lubbock and they will do a 3-5 day treatment of IV meds.

Has anyone had this treatment??  If so, could you offer information please.

I hope Wenchie comes by soon, because I think she has had some treatment for rejection.  Donnia, I am thinking of you and holding you in my prayers.  I will keep thinking positive thoughts for Hope to recover.  :cuddle;

Hi Donnia, I had a rejection epsiode very early on , i had to have 3 days of IV prednisoine very high dosage at first and gradually decreased the dose  then had another biospy which showed things were ok. good luck thinking of you :cuddle;

   I have had three biopsies and three bouts of rejection and three rounds of treatments...all in the past 6 months...and I am here to tell about it...with my lil kidney (Kalvin) chugging along.
  First I had plasma pheresis...not a fun treatment, but not painful, to get my antibodies in check. 
  Round two: treatments of IVIG ( Intra Venous Immuno Globulin) sorry if that is spelled totally wrong, with a Rituxan chaser.  The IVIG was nothing, only time consuming.  The Rituxan can cause a bit of a reaction, but they pre treated me with benedryl and tylenol and I did fine.
 Third episode was treated with high dose prednisone and another Rituxan chaser.
  All of these treatments are time consuming, but none painful and none caused anything but maybe minor reactions (just the Rituxan).
  My creatnine levels run a bit high still, but have settled in around 2.5, but I have only ever been as low as 1.5 since transplant and I have been as high as 3.6.
  Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions...I am here several times a day checking in.  Keep your chin up...I will keep you in my thoughts...a positive attitude goes a long way.  When you feel like it's time to give up...don't give in!  Best of luck!

I was treated with 7 doses of Thymoglobulin a couple of weeks after my transplant. I had a reaction to the first dose but after that no problems. The hardest part was being in the hospital for seven days. I had no symptoms and felt fine. It was so boring.

I was treated with thymoglobulin right after the transplant as it took a bit to kick in. The first round made me shake uncontrollably so they ran it a little slower the next time and gave me some benadryl. Nothing bad... I think I had it about 4 times before I left the hospital. Not too sure.. things are a bit blurry for me during that time.
