Today was my 7th treatment. After about 1 1/2 hrs I was really feeling week so I checked my BS. Down to 50. I had the tech get me my apple juice and graham crackers. Everything was back to normal and the nurse comes around and says she needs to take off my socks and look at my feet. she said they will check them every 9 weeks and if they see any problems they will bring in a Podiatrist. It sure seemed like an odd thing to do I thought.

Good. They check feet here the beginning of each month and otherwise as necessary.
-
For everyone or just diabetics?
-
Everyone. I'm not diabetic, but they're always checking my feet in cast I've got too much fluid.
-
Yes, every patient.

OK, right, they call it checking the ankles here so I wasn't thinking feet which is pretty dumb on my part but of course thye do that here also.
-
It was because I was Diabetic. She was checking for circulation problems and how much sensation I had. I wasn't expecting it and it just seemed strange.

I don't think my center has ever done that. My regular doc checks, though. I hate it - my circulation is fine - I'm just ticklish!

I should have clarified...the first D day of every month we have to remove socks for a thorough check, then after it's just ankles unless a problem, but yes primary Dr won't even come in unless socks are off.
Weird huh.
