Hello Everyone,
My catheter was put in on March 11 and I just started PD training this Monday. I have had 2 days of training. We put in 1000ML in today, I felt OK just looked very large. I don't see how I will be able to hold 2000ML.
The only discomfort I feel is at the end of the drain, that uncomfortable pinching, that goes away when we clamp the line.
I will start my 4 exchanges on Saturday. So far everything is going good. Thanks to all of you that I was prepared mentally and more or less knew what to expect. I love this group. :bandance;

Woo hoo, I remember those days from 5 years ago. Can't wait to get back to PD; I am so tired of hemo. Best of luck to you.

Glad it is going smooth for you.
Does anyone know how many ounces 2000ml is??
Im trying to get an idea of what to expect.

Betty- Glad your PD training is going well. You will get use to the full feeling and as for the pinching at the end of the drain, for some it goes away or they get use to it. But for me when I was on PD, the pain never went away. I just timed it right and closed my transfer set to stop the drain and I tolerated it for over a year.
I'm hoping that it will go away for you. Take care.

I think the weight comes in around a couple of kilos !!! (about 5lbs) At first its terrible ,you feel huge and look pregnant !! Best advice i can give you is keep an eye on not getting constipated (it happens alot and obstructs your drain out) Also just eat little and often to start , you will feel so full from the fluid you wont want to eat , so just pick. For some people the 'drain pain' goes away for others its like they said you just shut your clamp off when it reaches that point. Best of luck :2thumbsup;

pk you look like a big guy, I would not be surprised if they try to squeeze 2500 in you. They did that to me and i was miserable. They said the taller / bigger you are the need for more fluid. Eventually I said I would not use 2500 anymore - I flat out refused. So I have been using 2000ml for the past 2 months and all is well. Anyways, its a good 5 -6 pounds of fluid. I have never had a big stomache, but now whewww! And if one more person tell me how big my stomach is, I might just do this...... :Kit n Stik;
