Creatinine back up to 4.7. They will do a kidney biopsy today. PLEASE tell me what to expect. I'm scared! We will also do dialysis again today. :'( :'( :'( :'(
-
I just want to say goodluck and ill say a prayer that all goes smoothly.
Im not sure what you should expect??
-
The biopsy is quick and they take a tiny bit of tissue. They'll numb the area first. Then you keep pressure on the area and lie flat for a couple of hours. Hopefully this will give them more info on rescuing the kidney. Best wishes Donnia!! :grouphug; :grouphug;
-
:cuddle; Oh Donnia, I sure hope they act fast with whatever they are going to do. I'll keep praying. :cuddle;
-
All my thoughts and prayers are with you Donnia and I'm hoping that the biopsy can give them the info the need to know how best to get things back on track. So sad that this is happening. :grouphug; :cuddle; :grouphug;
-
Donnia, I hope they are able to figure out what is going on with the new kidney. I am sending positive energy your way. Take care and keep us updated. :grouphug;
-
Thanks everyone :grouphug;
I am going to dialysis in about 10 minutes. Please say some prayers for my kidney, 'Hope' is what my donor and I named her... she is my hope. She wont let me down... I will stay positive.... I will get through this.... :boxing;
Would still like more information on how the biopsy works.... how painful is it, etc... Thanks Okarol for the info.

Donnia, I found some really good information on the kidney biopsy procedure here:

Donna,
I am praying for you

Prayers for you and Hope :cuddle;

Jenna had no pain at all during the procedure as the transplanted kidney is right under the surface (unlike native kidneys which is much more involved.)
They do an ultrasound to guide the needle biopsy gun, it's a quick stick. Jenna had 2 biopsies, one had mild bleeding so she had to lie still an extra hour. She never had any pain, slight soreness the next day. I pray it goes as smoothly as it did for Jenna.

Hi Donna,
I had my first transplant kidney biopsy 2 weeks ago. It wasn't painful at all. They took me in radiology and I laid slightly to my left since my new kidney is on the right. They did an ultrasound of my kidney to see where would be a good place to go in. After several pics from the ultrasound, the doctor came in and they prep the area and they gave me local shot of pain medicine in the area. They actually did 4 biopies of the kidney and I didn't feel any pain. They went in the same hole each time. After that I was wheeled back to my room where I had to lay flat on my back for 2 hours and the remaining 2 hours I was able to sit up on the bed but not allowed to get up completely until the total 4 hours was up. After 4 hrs. I got up to collect a urine sample. Since there were no blood in my urine. I was released within an hour.
I pray all works out for you.
Take care,
RG

I hope that kidney starts working soon!! And lasts you for lots of years!! :cuddle;
I had a kidney biospy a few years back. Please make sure they give you something for pain. They were getting ready to do the procedure on me and they hadn't given me anything for pain or even a local. They were gonna stick that needle in and I made them stop and give me something. The guy doing it said "We don't usually give you anything for this type of procedure." I said "OH well....cause before you stick that big needle in me your going to give me something." Everyone was pissed off they had to stop and give me something but I didn't care.

Go Brightsky!
donnia, I hope all goes well. :cuddle;

After going through a transplant the biopsy is a walk in the park. My thoughts go out to you and "hope". Keep thinking positive, even though I know its hard.
-
sorry you are going through this! Hope things go well for you after the biopsy and they find out why your numbers are so high.
maybe a slight increase in your meds will resolve your issues. Will be thinking of you during these difficult times.. God Bless !! Chris

Thinking of you Donnia. I hope all goes well with the biopsy. :cuddle;
Do they think it was the anesthetic for the hip surgery or the change in meds that pissed "hope" off?
-
Keep us posted - praying that everything works out okay :grouphug;

I am praying for you Donnia. I hope they can get Hope started again. :cuddle;

You and your kidney have my prayers. As for the biopsy its no big deal. As for a little Atavan or something to clam you down before you go in. It feels weird, but dosn't hurt. You will be more then alright promise. Let us know how it goes.

Today's update:
Hello all......
Well... I don't really know exactly what to say. Things are still unknown. We are still waiting for the results of my kidney biopsy. I WILL say I have urinated quite a bit today. I don't feel as if I'm retaining near as much fluids. My right leg (surgery leg) is still VERY VERY swollen. I do have home health and physical therapy coming to my house all week. The physical therapy nurse said that all the swelling in my surgery leg is normal. I have not had labs done since yesterday. My creatinine was 3.3 yesterday.... Maybe it's just wishful thinking.. I don't know, but I do believe 'HOPE' (my kidney ... named by Joyce and me) is trying to fight back (Joyce did tell me that her kidney 'aint no quitter')!
My emotional, physical and psychological well being has realllllly suffered. I am really trying to keep positive. I am just a really upset person right now. I think my medical care left alot to be desired (not by Dr. DeMory... he is the only one who made me feel safe!!!)... but that's another story. We are going to try to keep it positive right now.
I am so very sore! I hurt so bad! It wears me out just to walk to the bathroom with my walker. Getting back in bed is a terror.... all I can say is... thank God for Juan and Dr. DeMory!
Thanks for the support and sorry for the rant :(
-
You want a constant monitor on your wrist of your creatinine. You want one of those sugar monitors they have for diabetics only for creatinine. But 3.3 is better then the last one. It is coming down. Keep drinking water and make it work a little harder. HOPE!
:yahoo;
-
Hang in there Donnia! Hopefully the numbers will continue to drop and you'll start feeling better soon. In the meantime, I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I'm going to keep imagining that you are peeing up a storm. :cuddle;
-
Donnia, you and "hope" are in my thoughts and prayers. :cuddle;
-
Absolutely, "Hope" and prayers coming your way!

Short little update:
Preliminary biopsy results show either allergic reaction to antibiotics used in surgery or rejection. Allergic reaction would be treated with steroids, which Dr. DeMory started immediately anyway. Rejection would be treated by me going back to Lubbock and my transplant team treating me.
Had dialysis today.... yep, you guessed it.... it sucked =}
-
I hope they can sort 'hope' out for you, we're all rooting for you. :cuddle;
-
Thinking of you Donnia and sending prayers your way!

Thinking and praying for you Donnia :thumbup;

Donnia the best of luck from me :) Hope to hear your latest news soon
-
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: NO REJECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
It was an allergic reaction to antibiotic given during surgery! My dr started treating with steroids immediately.... which is how you would treat this to begin with :) Labs were done yesterday and hopefully we will receive the results when I go back to dialysis tmr. Retest labs Tuesday. With time, this should go completely away :)

Thanks for the support everyone....
Went to dialysis again today. Creatinine Saturday was 4.5 and today was 5.3. I am peeing really good... actually my output yesterday was about 1400 and my intake about 1150. Today they told me to stop the Lasix as they think I might be becoming dehydrated and that is why my creatinine is going back up.
Will let you know more as soon as I know more :)
-
Keeping good thoughts for you Donnia! :grouphug;
-
that little light of shine, I want it to PEE!!
