Title: Santi from Toronto
Post by: sancon on April 28, 2009, 07:40:49 AM
Hi everyone
My name is Santi i am a male living in Toronto Canada. Yesterday was my first full day on PD. My kidneys are shutting down because of complications due to Diabetes. I have made a conscious effort to not research dialysis, i have not read any of the mountain of literature given to me by the army of nurses and doctors i have been seeing. Denial is not just a river in Egypt. But just like a Mack truck if you don't take it seriously it will run you over.
I heard about this site from a lady while waiting for a blood test and i thought i would take a look around.

Well Santi luckily you came to a place where there is no information on Dialysis and we dont talk about it :sarcasm;..

Glad you found us.  We wont force information on you but are willing to tell you like it is or as we know it.
How is PD going for you?  Will you eventually switch over to the cycler?

Hope to see you post often.
PS. Knowledge is power  :banghead;

 :welcomesign;  I'm from Toronto also but I've always wanted to know everything there is to know and then some more about my kidney disease.  You might end up wishing we'd stop giving you so much information but you still have the option of ignoring us.  LOL.  Glad to see you on this board.

Welcome welcome.  Don't worry about the denial.  Do whatever gets you through.  The time will come when you will be interested in the details.  Don't force it.

  Welcome aboard from another Toronto patient.   I always want to know everything and ask the doctors lots of questions and get copies of all reports.  Please stay in touch .  There are a lot of people that can help if you ever get curious.

That's right Santi. We've got a nice "off topic" section with fun stuff in it. There's political stuff tucked inside if you hunt for it (I warn you though, it can be intense), And there's games. Above all, we are really really nice just to hang with!
Welcome to ihd :waving;

And some time, when you feel like you need some information, you can just get your toes a little wet...

Welcome Santi!   :welcomesign;

Kidney disease certainly can be intimidating, but you have taken a really good first step by coming to visit this site.

You will find a ton of useful information and support, too if you give it a chance.

I hope to see you posting often.
