Title: Picture Evolution of Bike Riding
Post by: kitkatz on April 26, 2009, 02:50:47 PM
1. When you are young you ride a tricycle on the sidewalk.
2. As a youngster you ride a large tired dirt bike everywhere.
3 As a teen to young adult you ride a twenty seven speed bicycle.
4. Then a recumbent as you get older and the knees and butt areas cannot take the strain.
5. Then comes the three wheeled recumbent bicycle. You have now entered bike Geekdom!

Oh wow! The new bike rides excellently.  I took her for a spin today around a few blocks.  I went further than I have been on the twenty speed I used to have. Third gear skips in 5th so the bike guy will have to look at it in the tune up when I take it in to him.  Very awesome ride.

I'd love to get a recumbent bike, but I can't afford one. The least expensive ones I've seen are still $500 to $600.

Adam,
Then you don't want to know what I paid for my dual suspension mountain bike. Let's just say I could buy more than one of those recumbant bikes.

I can relate to that. I have an aluminum and carbon fibre road bike that I paid a little over $1000 for. I got that when finances were a little better then they are now. It's so annoying to see it sitting in my spare bed room gathering dust because I don't have the stamina to ride it. I hope I can get back on it sometime, though. Maybe after transplant.

The bike has been to the bike shop. Has to go again. Developed a breaking in brake squeak and the cup holder is in. Tomorrow I will take it in to clinic. The gears were tweaked and work really well now in all gears.  I also have an odometer that tracks all kinds of stuff; mileage, time, speed, average speed.  Today I rode 2.5 miles at an average of 6 miles per hour. Obviously I am not a speed demon right now.  But it is fun!

Here is a picture of a Big Wheel and my recumbent is next.  I have named the recumbent trike My Big Wheel.

My Big Wheel had a blue storage box in the back, I don't see one on that modern version. Now I'm wondering who was the maker of the original Big Wheel. Wish I could take either one of my mountain bikes out for a ride. Looks like your having fun there.
