So,
We are all finished with the treatment for today and it is time for me to reconnect the arterial line to the saline bag for the rinseback. But my husband, always ready with his wit unfortunately distracts me with some wise crack. And....
I disconnect that arterial line without clamping off the bugger. :oops;
The unbelievable thing is that we contained all that blood on the pillow cover!
Now here's the kicker. Good old punster husband looks at me and says, "This is like the end of the Beverly Hillbillies."
Huh?
"Yeah. No more Clampets!"
:rofl;

Glad to hear the blood spill wasn't too bad and you were able to keep your sense of humor.

I did the same thing yesterday. :banghead; I watched the blood come out for what seemed like minutes. I am still cleaning up the mess.

I thought he was going to say something about the blood - red gold - bloody texas tea. You guys sound alot like my husband and me. When a problem occurs, we work them through together and usually end with a joke. It helps keep the sanity - if you don't laugh, you'll cry. I'd rather laugh. Dave has become an expert at getting blood out of clothing - not that I've ever forgotten to Clamp-It, no not me.

I've done that a few times myself. The first couple times I thought I was going to code, but the last time I did it, it was my dad that almost needed the shock paddles. He was doing something with his back turned to me, and I was disconnecting my line for rinseback and I forgot to clamp it. He turned around just in time to see blood squirting everywhere and me very calmly saying "can you pinch that for me?" He just about had kittens! Ah! the joys of getting blood stains out of clothing.
Edit: I actually just remembered that I happened to be wearing my Canadian BLOOD Services shirt at the time. Appropriate.
