I've been told that I'll be on dialysis before the end of this year, so I want to join a nice friendly forum. I've looked at a couple and this seems to me to have the best people.
My kidneys have been on the decline for over 4 years, so it wasn't a surprise when I was told about it in January. The local hospital had a half day seminar for preD patients and their carers earlier this month. Eight of us patients started but there were only 6 left at the end! :( One fainted shortly after they passed the needles round for us to examine.
Next step for me is to discuss hæmo or peritoneal.
As for me, I'm 68 but I still work for a couple of days a week.

Its great that you joined and I think that you have found the best place. There are lots of people with years of experience that can help answer the many questions as the D day gets closer. Please stay in touch. :welcomesign;

Welcome! :welcomesign;
Look around, read through the posts, ask questions, and vent if you need to. You have found a great source of information and support.
I hope to see you posting often.

Welcome to IHD. Keep working as long as you can. Read some of the sections on this site on which method to use. You do have options.

Welcome Stoday, good to have you aboard.

:welcomesign; Stoday
I am glad you made it through the class and joined our group. There are so many knowledgeable people here and knowledge is power! I am sure that you will hear all of the pros and cons of home PD vs in center hemo vs whatever else there is! My daughter can't do nightly PD as she starts out sleeping on the bed and wakes up in the morning on the other side of the room or in another room. :urcrazy;
I am sure that you will find what works best for you...maybe even a new kidney...that would be great ;D
Great to have you here! :flower;

good luck man. I'm also 68 and going to start dialysis next week. It is scary as heck. It kind of surprising to be in this situation, isn't it. The site will help you get used to the idea. Post and ask questions. I been on here for a little over a month now and have done my part in asking stupid questions.
