Title: First night's travel with cycler

Last Saturday night was the first time travelling with the cycler. We stayed at a hotel about 100
miles from home while visiting the daughter's in laws. Everything went fine, no alarms, and the only
problem was sleeping on the wrong side of the bed because that's where the table was.
This was a good experiment for longer vacations this summer and fall.

I'm glad it worked out well. Nice to know you don't let dialysis hold up your travelling. Hope you get to do more trips.

 :clap; Thats what is so great about PD Steve. You can "do it" anywhere   ;)

I have just been away for easter. It was wonderful sitting on the beach watching my kids surf!

Just a little tip.... don't be afraid to rearrange the room to suit you. I have to sleep on the same side, otherwise I end up tangled in the lines.

Good for you Steve, I have been on dialysis for 2.5 years and have gone nowhere.

Seeing that people actually travel gives me hope  :2thumbsup;

Just got back from a week visiting relatives in Ohio.  Baxter shipped my dialysate and a week's supply was awaiting  my arrival.  The great thing about PD is being able to travel - overnight or over a week, it doesn't matter!  No need to make special arrangements or take 3 days out of a 5 day visit to sit in an unfamiliar center.  If you have to be on dialysis (ugh!), PD is the way to go!  :2thumbsup;

I always like to sleep on the same side of the bed when we travel as I do at  home.  I've slept on the opposite side but it's not as easy with the tubing and I don't sleep as well as I more concerned about kinking the lines.  Because I don't always know how far it will be from my side of the bed to the bathroom, I always pack extra 10' patient line extensions to give me some extra leeway.  I use one extension every night at home so on vacation I've been known to use two extensions, giving me an extra 20' without any problems.

Do the lines Kink easily?

I toss and turn all night long.  And wake up while tossing and turning.  So hopefully i will be able to move the tubing to accomodate my sleeplessness.

I hope i dont become completly entangled once i start PD.
My big decision right now is deciding what side to have the PD access come out.
I sleep on right hand side of bed.  And think having the access on my left side would be best.  For when i turn to my left then switch to my right. :urcrazy;

I don't think the lines kink easily. My only recurring problem is a "low drain volume" alarm when
I an lying on my right side and the drain won't start because the catheter is left of my navel.
I just have to turn over, but it does wake me somewhat. I am not sleeping as well now. I was always
a good sleeper, got my 8 hours, but I will take this problem over hemo.

Way to go, Steve!  I can't wait to get back to PD.  I am so tired (literally and figuratively) of hemo.  My surgery is scheduled for April 28.
