Organ Donor/Recipient Matched-Up Through Radio Appeal

NEW YORK -- Three years ago, hope was fading fast for Anatoly Potik. His kidneys were failing and dialysis was not working, so his family made a desperate plea for a kidney donor on 1010 WINS.
Eva Casale of Glen Cove was listening and the Potik family in Roslyn was hoping for a miracle.
1010 WINS: I'm sure you have heard these appeals for organs before, why this particular day?
Eva: It was just the way the story touched me that day...and the way you (Anatoly) told your story.
Eva: I was driving to work that day and heard your story...something said to me, you can help this person.
Ultimately, Eva was the perfect match.
Six months later, ironically on 10/10/06, Anatoly received one of Eva's kidneys. Today, he is doing great and living a healthy life with his family.
Eva said she believes this match-up was meant to be. She also said the experience changed her life forever and that she is dedicated to spreading awareness about organ donation.
"She is deep in my heart, she has become part of our family," Anatoly said of Eva.
Faye Potik, Anatoly's wife, still cannot believe that her husband is healthy.
"This is a miracle thanks to Eva...our hero...our angel...there are no words to describe what she did," Faye said.
Faye says the Potiks were swamped with offers, but Eva was the perfect match.
