Hi everyone,
My name is Chris I am 29 and recently started Dialysis. I am a Type I Diabetic with many Diabetic Complications. Renal Failure being one of them.. It took a good 5 months or so for my kidneys to finally shut down and stop functioning. Before that I was struggling going back and forth to the ER and many ICU stays because of HIGH CREATINE Levels and being Toxic.. Or so I call it. The last straw was around 3 weeks ago. I spent 5 days in ICU and then they told me I was going to have to start Dialysis.
The following day I went upstairs and had a port put in my chest. I thought it was really going to be bad but after the 2nd Dialization boy did I feel like a million bucks. And to this day I am still feeling 100 times better. My Blood Sugars have seemed to level back out again. I am also getting IV Nutrition at the same time I do the Dialysis at the Center so I have also managed to put on around 12 pounds to date. I am looking forward more and more to each and everyday. I honestly forgot how it felt to feel good. I am so glad that I have kept on fighting and not given up on this entire situation. Its been a rough 10+ years.
Anyhow so glad I found this site and am looking forward to meeting new people, making friends and also finding some Dialysis Patients in my areas. So if you are on Long Island please let me know..

Thanks for the Warm Welcome Everyone!! It feels good to feel like I am part of a big family. I have to say though these last few weeks have seemed so overwhelming although the family I have now begun to meet at the Dialysis Center I go to every 2 days are really amazing people. Not only are the staff great people but so are all the other patients who go there.
I do the AM Dialysis! I am up at 4am and head out the door by 4:45 to be there for 5am.. Its a long 3 1/2 hours but I pop on my trusty Zune and listen to the tunes until I fall asleep time seems to pass by so much quicker that way. I am usually sleeping the entire Dialysis session unless an alarm wakes me up or the Nurse needs something like blood or just hast to move a tube or check on me.
Anyway I am not new to forums so I should fit right in here. I am a Moderator on an Radio Control Car Forum called the HPIBajaforum.. Its a cool site and one of my few hobbies. I'll have to post up some pictures of my 26cc 3ft long gas powered monsters one of these days :2thumbsup;
Anyhow I have a few questions to ask so let me go find the proper section to put them in..

Hi, Chris!
:welcomesign;
I have a type 1 diabetic child in my class. He was diagnosed at age 4. He has been very interested in my husband's dialysis process, as is his mother.
You have come to the right place to get your questions answered.
Welcome to a wonderful community.

Glad you found the #1 Dialysis site.
I checked out your forum nice. :thumbup;
I have about 10 RC's. Great fun hobby but man it gets expensive with the repairs.
I only have the RTR's and a plane i built and wrecked soon afterwords. But i can appreciate the
time and work people put into some of there toys.
I have a 73 Baja vw that i am getting ready to uncover for the summer.
I may by a shell for one of the RC's and paint it like the bug to take to shows with me.
I think there is a hobby page you could post your pics on. With a few other RCs on it.
