Title: Intro from Buffalogal
Post by: buffalogal on March 30, 2009, 03:44:07 PM
Hey all, I'm Julie from Minnesota and in my mid-thirites.  I'm so glad to find this forum; the great info and camraderie!

My husband went into the hospital a week ago last Saturday with kidney failure.  His creatinin was 15-16 (he has a high tolerance to pain but this is ridiculous), they did an emergency neck catheter and dialyzed him on Sunday.  After his 6 day stay in the "hospital hotel" and a few dialysis treatments later, they let him out.  He's now on dialysis, we will be talking to a doctor later this month about transplant.  This was a sudden lifestyle change and we've been busy just figuring out how to give him a shower, what to eat and how to feel.  I always said that I married an older man (6 months older) but didn't know that THIS is what would become of it!

I look forward to hanging around the forums and getting to know you all better.

 :welcomesign; Julie,

Wow! Creatinine of 15-16...that is the highest that I've heard.  Lots of information and support here.  Try to get your hubby to sign on during dialysis. I am glad you joined the group.   :grouphug;

Thank you for the warm welcome!  I do hope my hubby will join sometime, he's never been one for online forums though.

lola - nice to know there's someone in the same situation "close by!"

His creatinin was very high, the Dr said he had maybe 1-3 days before permanent damage to other organs.  We're very lucky he got in when he did.
