Title: Does Anyone Know How to Get Rid of Miller's Bugs?
Post by: peleroja on March 16, 2009, 10:23:58 AM
Unlike weevils, which prefer grains, these teeny tiny flying bugs prefer the products made from grains, such as the penne pasta, quinoa, and barley I had to throw away yesterday, all of which had been placed in ziploc bags.  With the economy the way it is, I'm tired of having to throw stuff away that I had safely tucked away in ziploc bags.  Anyone have a remedy?

yesi living in humid florida-the bugs occur pretty quickly, my pantry  is bordered by an outside wall, so it gets hotter then it should in a pantry. I keep my noodles and rice both in the freezer. It doesn't freeze, it just stays fresh. You dont have to unthaw them because they dont exactly freeze. They stay loose.

I get pantry moths, but I'm not sure about tiny flying bugs.  I keep fly paper - the old fashioned sticky stuff - hanging in my pantry and I catch a bunch of moths, but sometimes they still get in my food.  I try to keep my grains in the fridge during the summer, if there is room.  I have found only one type of storage canister, made by Tupperware, that will completely keep the bugs out.  They're called Modular Mates and they are expensive. They come in different shapes and sizes.  Here's one link:
