Title: This is March for crying out loud
Post by: willieandwinnie on March 01, 2009, 06:25:46 AM
:banghead;  :banghead;  :rant; I need a good scream. Mother nature is playing a cruel trick on Southern Maryland. They are telling us that we are going to get 17 inches of snow today and tomorrow. For God's sake it was 65 degrees here last Wednesday. Now I can't even get the car in the garage because the lawnmower is in there up on blocks. I am getting to old to be shoveling snow and the cold hurts my bones. Anybody else just sick of winter? I just need to  :rant; thanks for listening.  :cuddle;

So true, Wenchie!  March is such a "tease"!  One day is sunny with the temperature in the 60's (Fahrenheit), and the next day we get a blizzard!

Enough already!   :stressed;

I spent 2 hours yesterday shoveling pathways at the place I'm moving into, and I've still got more to go - so I hear you, and I second the motion!

The South is having a good winter storm.  It was in the high 60's low 70's last week.   Daffodils, trees, forsythia are all blooming and tonight it is in the low 30's and it is suppose to snow!  Several inches!  I had the windows open on Friday.  And it will be 70 again in five days.  But, tonight we are getting snow.  So, I am going to sit back and enjoy it.  I have no where to go tomorrow   :thumbup;

The weather is strange here in San Antonio, as well.  Earlier in the week we hit the 90's!  And yesterday morning was probably in the 40's.    Really strange...    oh, and SUPER windy!

I just returned home from dinner at a friend's and it's hailing.  On Wednesday I leave for Corpus Christi and the weatherman says it will be in the high 70s and sunny during the day.  I'll take it!

I woke up to 1-2" of snow this morning.  And, unfortunately, we do not have experts plowing our snow!  It's enough to stop everything in this part of Virginia.

I'm going to post pictures later. We have over a foot of wet, heavy snow and it is still coming down. We lost power last night for about an hour and everything here is closed. I have to go shovel the deck again for the puppies. Hope I don't have a heart attacked in this mess.  :cuddle;

pelagia, they closed the Harry Nice Bridge this morning and the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Glad you aren't going to Solomons.  :cuddle;

Let it snow let it snow let it snow.

OK i LIKE the snow.    :oops;

Easier to get warm in the winter then to cool down in the summer.
We got about 10" last night.  Biggest snow this year if not in years.

Sorry please dont ban me from this thread  :waving;..

Guess there is one in every crowd (one that likes the snow that is.......)

I don't mind the snow when it only falls in fields and on the lawn and where I don't have to walk or drive..... however, my dogs love the snow.

Looking forward to the big melt coming soon to a street near me.

I love the seasons we get in the northeast and I do enjoy the snow, but by March, I am sick of winter.

We got a few inches of snow last night and it is still coming down.

But I can't wait for summer and being at the lake and out on the boat!!

Things are closed here today.  2-4 inches and the city closes.  I am ok with that.  It will be back to mid 70's in a couple of days and Spring will be here for good.   I love Spring and really don't like being cold.  A couple of days of winter is all I want anymore.

I hate the white stuff, it had finally melted by last Friday and boom another storm of over a foot of snow.  UGH!  We have already beat the normal amount of snow for March and it's only the 3rd!  Now the coldness sets in with no melting in site for a while.  The joys of living in Massachusetts.  Oh well, my son and the dogs love it!

Twirl - when it's 40 degrees we think it's balmy and don't wear jackets!  Last week it was 60 degrees and I had all the windows open, I want that weather back!

Karol - I'm so jealous - it is 8 degrees here with a huge north wind - wind chill down below zero.  Just got back from walking dogs - brrrrrrrrrrrrrr is all I've got to say.  I'll try posting pictures of my walk in August when we are finally thawed out.

By August we'll get to a toasty 75 to (if we're lucky) 80 degrees at least one or two days.  Oh yeah - can't wait for a 75 degree warm up in my neck of the woods.

I heard in TX you can fry eggs on the sidewalk.  Is that true?

LOL  so true.
An example.

In the winter we like our temperature at our house to be around 71/73 degrees. (which is warm in the winter)

Yet in the summer we like our house to be around 67/68 degrees. (which is cool when it is 98/100 outside)

So in the winter when it is 66 degrees in the house we tell ourselvs it is cold.
Yet crave this temperature in the summer.
Just one of the things i ponder from time to time.  (yes to much free time)

Hey twirl, you can come anytime. My son and his buddy came and plowed the driveway and shoveled the front porch and sidewalks for us. I shoveled a path on the back deck and a small patch of grass for the dogs. I have some pictures of them I'll post later. My son Billy is the biggest kid you'll ever meet, there is a park around the corner from us and Billy took his 4 wheeler and intertube down there with the kids and had a blast. I bet they all slept good. The weather people are saying almost 70 degrees here this weekend and I'm praying it will melt a lot of it. Our north side of the house is really shaded and there will probably be snow there for weeks no matter what the temperature gets to. Come on spring. I have flowers that are coming up through the snow and blooming. I think they are confused.  :urcrazy; I am ready for spring.  :bow;

Here we are complaining about how cold it is.  At nights it is a chilly 75º!!!

we had an overcast day today and the tourists from the cruiseship were complaining.  Most of the time they are saying how hot it is.  I told some of them that I like an overcast day - then you don't get burnt.

Check out this cool satellite image of the snow on the US east coast.  http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=37261

I arrived in Corpus Christi Texas tonight to palm trees and a balmy evening breeze.  A nice change from the teens and 20s that hit coastal Virginia before I left.

P.S. I waved to Twirl as I flew over Conroe!

ewww - the snow map is no more impressive than the snow that we've been shoveling - we need to start now with a five letter word such as spring and get rid of the four letter word snow.   :flower;

I never though SNOW was a four letter word, but I guess it really is.

I have officially banned the word from our vocabulary.  The white stuff in your yard is a multitude of individual snowflakes!
