Rob has a donor who has been testing for him for the past few months. He had his last test on Sunday (scan of the kidneys) and we got the news yesterday that all is good! His kidney function is so great (over 190%) that when Rob has his transplant, his donor's one kidney will actually do the work of 2. We don't have an exact date yet, but most likely it will happen in April. The surgeon wants his donor to lose another 12lbs, just to be on the safe side of recovery. So, he's approved, but they want him to lose those pounds and a date will be set.
We are so thrilled and grateful for this selfless man. We met him on matchingdonors.com and he contacted Rob due to the town we live in. This man lives in NY State, but grew up in the town we are living in now. His parents live about 5 mins from us. We all think it was fate and ask he said to me yesterday "This was just meant to be". He is the nicest person you would ever want to meet. He is very excited to do this. Amazing that a total stranger would want to help out another stranger, but there are so many good people in this world. He's our angel and will forever be a big part of our family. It's so nice to see a huge light at the end of the tunnel! :yahoo;
