Title: Well....the transplant center called last week!

I have been speaking with my donor for a couple weeks now, so i knew that I would get the call soon. Feb 25th, I will be getting my new/used kidney :)

I had gone through all this back in early january, I was hoping to get a kidney then, but it got down to the last tests for my other donor and he wasn't able to donate. Dialysis has been rough, my fistula hasn't been working right so they had to put in a catheter a couple weeks ago. Frustrations with weight fluctuating has caused me to cramp alot lately. I never really feel well...EVER! I just hope that all goes well, I hear horror stories about the meds and things. I've been blessed so far, only having to be on dialysis for 2 months, and finding multiple matches for a donor.

dbromley, you got my prayers and thoughts for you and your donor. You are lucky that so many people offered to donate. Keep us updated. 2/25 is like next Wednesday.  :yahoo;

Thank you so much....Its all happening so fast. I really hasn't hit home yet, It has for my wife though, she has been so great putting up with me!

Good luck in the transplant world.  Don't let medication horror stories throw you....yes, there are a lot of them.  Yes....there are some quirky side effects.  Yes.......it takes a little while to learn.     YES...it beats dialysis hands down!
This is only my opinion of course!

The fact that I have less hair on my head just leaves me time to deal with the new hair on my chin!   :rofl;

Try a "comb over", Wenchi!  That would look fabulous on you!  ;)

I'm not growing more "hair" necessarily on my chin, but I do have peach fuzz on my face.  Nothing too dramatic, but I did buzz it with the buzz clippers and now my cheeks feel like velvet!  Once the moon face goes away and the weight comes back off I'll be in hog heaven!

The meds are nothing!  Super easy!!!!  Once you get a routine of taking your pills (I use ALL the alarms on my cellular phone) and fill the first week on your own it's easy!!!

Sounds like next week is going to be fabulous for both bromley and monrein!

All these hair horror stories!  What am I going to do if I ever do get a transplant?  I'm already fuzzy enough just being Greek!

Well, I had my transplant last wednesday, things went great, kidney started working right away! Peeing more than i ever have before, thats for sure. I was in ICU through the weekend, creatnine steadily coming down, got down to 2.2 sunday and has been fluctuating from 2.2-2.5, they had me off IV fluids monday and put me back on yesterday hoping creatnine would go down with hydration, I have been drinking almost 90oz of water a day, whichis alot for me! As of today it went down to 2.2, they say they may let me go home in the morning if it goes down, they'd like to see it under 2, but we shall see. If not then they're gonna run some more tests to see whats going on. All in all transplant was a piece of cake, very little pain, took my last pain pill on monday morning, been up walking since sunday. Walking has been tough, since you use so much of your abdominal muscles, i can only walk for a bit. The only thing i havent been able to do is bend over too far, just don't have that range of motion yet.

Transplant was totally worth it, i feel like a completely new man. I cannot describe the feeling to you all, it has been simply amazing.

Hopefully i will have good news about my creatnine levels going down.
