Title: EPO & Aranesp
Post by: mallory on August 31, 2006, 11:07:06 AM
Is Aranesp the same thing as EPO?  I know Aranesp is the synthetic protein that acts like Erythropoietin, and that's what I'm taking, but I wondered if it's the same thing as the EPO you are all taking.

Yes in fact Aranesp is a longer lasting version of Epogen, they are both made by Amgen, and the reason their are two types is a big MONEY issue. It a battle that still rages on in the industry. It's a long story. I myself take Procrit which again is the same drug.

Thanks for that explaination! I have often wondered about them all. I have been on both Aranesp and Eprex.
