Title: *** How many IHD members are on In-center Nocturnal Hemodialysis? ***
Post by: Zach on February 11, 2009, 11:17:45 AM
If your answer is yes, please tell us how many hours per session and nights per week.  Also include your state, i.e. Washington (hello Rerun!).

Many thanks,

A quick survey I made of In-center Nocturnal Hemodialysis reveals that there are 55 Fresenius centers and 114 DaVita centers which offer the option throughout the United States at this time.

I'm sure there are a host of smaller centers that are offering or considering in-center nocturnal hemodialysis as well.

Zach,

Spokane, WA has a DSI Clinic that has a Sun, Tue, Thurs shift with 10 of us.  They also just started a Mon, Wed, Fri with only 7 people with room to grow.

We are on 8 hours.  The shift starts putting people on at 6:00 PM and starts taking them off at 2:00 AM.  I personally run from 7:45 PM to 3:45 AM.

There is also a Fresenius clinic in Spokane that has a Nocturnal shift but they have too many rules so I have heard people don't like it.

I have to tell you, once you start at nocturnal, and five nights, you will NOT want to take Sat and Sun off, you will be getting so much dialysis and feel so good, and then 2 days in a row without, you will certainly feel like crap.  I do 6 nights because I am in that study for frequent dialysis, but there have been many weeks where I just do five espically if something is going on on a weekend and bu the time Sunday rolls around, I am begging to get hooked up.  What they usually suggest is if you are going to do five days, take say Wednesday and Saturday off, you will feel much better.  Also you will probably find out that you can do anywhere from 6 to 9 hours each night.  I am more than likley using a different machine but you have that freedom.  And remember when you first start nocturnal you will have problems, I was ready to pack it in but stuck with it and after a few weeks it was fine.  Now I find I don't sleep as well when I have my night off.  Feel free to message me or get a hold of me on Facebook, and I will give you any info I can.

I do 8 hours, 3 days a week (MWF) in Redwood City, California (even though it is 1.5 hour drive for me each way). I'm with a Satellite Dialysis year-long study.  I'm feeling great-- not like death-slightly-warmed-over. Working 40 hours a week now-- because of doing nocturnal.
